That's good. It would have cost you a fortune. There's over $2.5k in front end bits plus $800-$1000 for a bonnet.

Allwhitey then here's where it's up to. Not a hint of Persian(s*#t, spew, pooh brown)Sand anywhere.
When I painted the first car I used the PPG thinners and couldn't get a nice finish, this time I used the Supercrap thinners and it came up well considering.

Even painted under the parcel shelf and boot lid springs to get rid of the brown.

Original GEM77A tags are on the rad support.

A bit of satin black here

and here, not that you'll see it here.

Considering it has been painted in acrylic, in a garage by an amateur it looks alright. It's not perfect but it's done!
Still have to paint the black on the B pillars and the sills then I'll concentrate on getting it mobile again.

Maybe! I always had my TG but no cash to register it. If this thing is finished and I have the cash it will be there complete with the mangled GEM77A plates.

Set up ready for putting the engine in.
ImageDSC_0055 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr

Pulled the engine and gearbox out of the wreck and had a good look at this.
ImageDSC_0056 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr

Just a little bent!
ImageDSC_0057 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr

You would think that having Geminis for the last twenty something years that I would have some of these floating around somewhere but no so I had to "borrow" the ones off the coupe.

I wondered why the brakes on the wreck were working and then weren't. Today I bumped the master cylinder reservoir and this happened. Explains a bit.

Another view showing the damage.

Bought myself a good quality parallel flow condenser.
ImageDSC_0066 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr

I'll have the brackets for this made up at work this week.

Pulled most of the wiring out of the wreck and put it in. Fitted the heater box, fan and evaporator while I was at it.

Wreck is starting to look a bit bare now.

I wasn't ready for bed and it was a nice night so I did a little job that's been bugging me and welded the rear sway bar mounts in.

So after pissing about taking tanks off radiators trying to make one good one I need a new core. I have 4 of the bloody things and not one is usable. They either leek, fins corroded off or so full of crap they can't be cleaned out. I'll get Arie to get me one at the right price, hopefully and hopefully one with the channels closer together.
I finished most of the wiring and put one of the crap radiators in for now. Chucked an old truck battery in and cranked it until there was oil pressure. Put new fuel lines in the engine bay and changed the fuel pump then put new fuel in to mix with the varnish already in the tank. It fired straight up but was running hairier than my arse!
It never ran properly since the accident and I think it was down to the dodgy distributor I put in to get it running.
Some may remember this.

I pulled the RB internals out and put them in another distributor. To my amazement it fired so I set the timing. The engine ran better but wouldn't idle. The idle circuit was full of crap so pulled the top off the carby and cleaned it out.
It now idles smoothly at 800 rpm with the odd miss which will probably go with use.

Thanks
Maybe on the guard.
Most of them need a lot of work. Rust in the bottom and near the windscreen etc. The best ones were on the car when the ex crashed it. I plan to use a driver side originally intended for the first car that has a patch panel on the bottom ansince d maybe try and straighten the passenger side one.

I fixed a little problem this afternoon that has been there since the last Nationals in Kiama. That weekend one of the bolts holding the thermostat housing on decided to strip out and so I dodged it up then and it was like that till today. Whats' that 4 years or something?
At work we have thread adapters for the struts in all different sizes so I grabbed 2 M8 to 10mm adapters and the appropriate tap. Drilled and tapped the manifold and reinstalled the thermostat housing. There, that didn't take me long to get around to doing!

Now where the f*#k was I? Oh that's right, the gold plated radiator! I got it back and it was worth the money as it has a better core than original but it is the wrong colour. It is black not gold!
ImageDSC_0069 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr
ImageDSC_0074 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr

Then immediately drilled a hole in it. As you do!
ImageDSC_0070 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr

Because I got one of these off Fleebay.
Lovely crappy phone pic here.
Image20161121_094044 by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr

Lathed the thread off the manifold adapter.
ImageDSC_0072 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr

Then soldered it into the bottom tank.
ImageDSC_0073 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr

Finished the brackets for the condenser and mounted a couple of modified Chineseum 6 inch fans.
ImageDSC_0068 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr

Did a few other things.
Mounted the extra pulley for the compressor.
ImageDSC_0067 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr

Painted this relay box thingy.
ImageDSC_0071 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr

Pulled the pedals, clutch cable, brake master and booster out of the wreck then got the s*)ts with the whole thing due to more s*#t bent that needs work.
Haven't been doing much since as work has been really busy and I have been f*#cked every day. Averaging 4 dashboard out and in jobs a week which I am so over. A Gemini dashboard is a piece of piss compared to these! VR-VS Commodores are the worst as there are more screws than I have loose and they are so s*#t that bits break if you look at them the wrong way, or there are Prados and Klugas where the dash weighs 2 tons. Imprezza/Forester is the best as I can do one in under an hour now due to plenty of practice recently. The pile of dead Subaru evaporators is proof! The thing is, no other c*#t there can do it so I am stuck with it.

It now has brakes! Installed the handbrake sometime back, I can't remember when. Installed the throttle cable, speedo cable, clutch cable, pedals, brake master/booster and proportioning valve. I couldn't find my bleeder tool so I had to bleed the brakes with the help of Kristy with her saying every 5 minutes "is it done now?".

I used the pedals and bracket from the wreck and found it needed putting back into shape with a FBH.
Steering column is bolted in now too. It is drivable now so I see a trip around the block in it very soon, but not yet, I have a few things I want to do before I move it.

Condenser and radiator are bolted in for the final time along with the engine fan. That visco fan only just went in it was that tight a fit!
ImageDSC_0077 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr

Nice wide channels in the new radiator.
ImageDSC_0074 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr

Getting the AC hard lines done slowly.

This weekend Matt came around to give me a hand with the interior. We pulled the screens, visors, mirror, Jesus handles, and parcel shelf out of the wreck. Carefully took all the vinyl inserts out and then the headlining.

Found the left c pillar cover was badly water damaged from a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. The bottom of it disintegrated when taking it out so I dug up the original c pillar cover for this body, pulled the cream vinyl off and glued the orange vinyl on.
ImageDSC_0079 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr
ImageDSC_0078 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr

Fitted the headlining and trim bits.
ImageDSC_0080 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr

Cleaned the screen rubbers and refitted the screens.
ImageDSC_0082 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr
ImageDSC_0083 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr

Refitted the mirror, visors, centre light and parcel shelf. I went to refit the Jesus handles and found that Holden fitted them with their eyes closed as none of the screw holes where even near by let alone close so new holes in the steel are required which I'll do later.
ImageDSC_0084 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr
ImageDSC_0085 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr

Put the back seat in place to make it look as though I have done something.

Fitted the tunnel patch and shifter boot with lots of Sikaflex.
ImageDSC_0086 (Medium) by Justin Sherwood, on Flickr

Oh and anybody who doesn't know what Jesus handles are they are the handles on the roof above each door that you hang onto as a passenger when going around corners quickly because as doing so you usually say "Jeeessssuussss!".
