did some more on it yesterday and today, cut out the side of the drivers chassis rail and put some beefier metal in it, welded a support along the front under the fuel tank, and along the drivers side of the tank. plus a couple of other bits here and there.

well the ute has been on the backburner for a while now. ive been working on my daily most of the time. but now its time to get back into it.

yesterday and today i finished putting the front end suspension back together. Now it has all new bushes, balljoints, rackends, tierod ends, springs, recoed rack, powdercoated diesel crossmember. and its back on 4 wheels.
next step is to drop the engine in.
hopefully i will get that done over the next week.

Damn you imageshack.
Yes this project is still going. Slowest build in history i know.
Image
So ive trial fitted a 4ze1 ive got and made up the mounts to suit the diesel crossmember.
Image
Ive now got hold of a 4zd1 to drop in it as is for rego.
Image

Front end is all new. With piazza brakes fitted. Rear lsd is in with commo brakes. Just making up the brackets for drop tank to go in.
Still shitloads to go but it you cant rush these things.

Still chipping away at a very long list of things to do.
Ended up using a combination of diesel petrol and 4z engine mounts and even then still modifying them to get the engine sitting where I wanted.
Image

Then I had to make a custom gearbox crewmember to suit the 4zd1 gearbox mount.
Image

This is pretty much where it sits in the engine bay

I have the battery positioned in the rest behind the passenger seat. Ran new leads through the inside of the cab to the starter, alternator and ignition feed. Wired the alternator to remove the external reg. Converted light wiring from the te harness to suit tg front.
Image

Also found some shorter shocks that with a change of bushes suits the lighter wagon rear end.
Image

Also fitted remote brakes. Just need to make a couple of new lines.

All the front lights work, starter cranks, wipers work. Indicators don't work on the gauges so I need to investigate this further. Still have to wire up the carby and sort out the fuel pump and tank etc.
Bought a new mechanical fuel pump and then found someone has stolen the pushrod out of the head so I have to go for an electric pump. That's about where I'm at atm.
