looks like there maybe a slight difference in the casting of the housing? mine did not have clearence issues, if so we need to identify exactly what model and build month the diff came from

Just out of curiosity.. when I got my diff+axles, I was asked whether I wanted it for "disk or drum". Now obviously Australian Gems only came out with drums, so I'm assuming whatever was different is specific to say, the VL disk conversion?

What's actually different between disk or drum? Anyone know? Or is it just the bearings supplied? I was planning on going the VL disk rear end, but now I'm scratching my head and considering sticking with drums for the moment (mainly because I don't want bigger rear disks than fronts, it just seems wrong  )

The centre bore of the drum is smaller than that of the VL disc. The centre locating hub on the axle is machined accordingly.

doesn't look like there is much actually... but I think that's because he is moving forwards at a steady pace. thus the 5 stars for style/smoke formation, I love the way it hangs over the front portion of the rear tyre then seems to sweep underneath it to the massive body of smoke behind the car....

Can you get the axels in 5x114.3 stud pattern?

See I have this idea of upgrading front brakes to Hopper Stoppers with 5x114.3 stud pattern but maintaining the stock rear brakes as the handbrake is very suitable for drift application. It always locks.

So if you can get the axels in 5x114.3 and get the drum cover drilled out to fit. (might have to use torana drums so spacing of 5 studs works out inbetween the other holes)

Yep they will do any stud pattern you choose..

That pic is from the same camera that took the video of me running the 1jz vs, not a bad shot from a video camera!

Ps the smoke didn't come into the car until the end of the strip!
