Hello,
I have spare time on my hands, and have thought about 2 Cars I would like to build. TC Sandpiper Coupe with a 2.0 DOHC and the rest of the fruit. DCOE Webbers and original Isuzu badge-work, Cluster and Mags. Why ? I have had a few TX's, still have my TD and a Sandpiper looks like a " Girls " Car. No offense intended to the Ladies, there was a Carla Zampatti Laser once, I doubt many were sold to Men. So nice to have a bit of a sleeper that would blow the doors off a typical Bogan machine. The other would be a TE Wagon with a 2.6 maybe Turbo. Stinky can go in the back, and it would be a good Tow Car. Stinky is a name I use for my Woman's hound. My taste seems different to many, but I like what I like.
What Cars would you like to have / build ?
Gemini's I would like to own.
Gemini's I would like to own.

Re: Gemini's I would like to own.
I'd like to have a genuine ZZ/R late model coupe (or ZZ/T, ZZ/L). Original, decals and all, but some tasteful wheels.
I'd like to have a crazy Aquarius Sports widebody track Gemini, complete with 180hp NA twincam 2.2L (by memory) stroker and knife-edged crank, twin 48's and monster cams. Basically I think this is the greatest any Gemini can be. Final form, if you will.
I'd like a Kadett GT/E with a C20XE or better, Euro hillclimb spec, lifting wheels and all that fun stuff. You can get sequential boxes for them, too.
And finally I'd like an Isuzu 117 Coupe. Original, or maybe twin webers/dellortos, as an oldschool highway cruiser. They're such beautiful cars.

Hello,
We have similar likes by the sounds of it. I remember when the Piazza came out, I went and had a look under it. I don't know why Holden didn't sell the better Gemini versions here. At the time there was the RS2000 and Stanza SSS in the Sporty segment of the market. Road or Rally, it could have started a one model series, and even both together like the Pom's do. I think the Gemini was a very under-rated Car, if they were spec'd right they could have sold many more. They could have imported the ZZ versions complete from Japan. The first 1 ton 4 X ? The Chevy Luv. First in the market, look at the size of it now. The Piazza ? set a record IIRC less than 2 years from concept to production. The Florian's and Bellet's were also interesting Cars, DOHC when everybody else was using push-rods. Not standard, but available in sports versions at least.

Hello,
What is the issue ? As much as possible, I like parts out of a box. Once you change things from parts in the same model range, problems start. Often things are made not to fit, so as to stop emission models getting non emission parts fitted. Like a different flange for EGR. The Gemini Ute looks interesting, but small things can make OS Cars hard to register. Crash barriers in doors come to mind here.

Re: Gemini's I would like to own.
Piazza's quick transition from concept to production shows in the build quality, materials used for the interior are quite cheap and nasty, Gemini interiors are fairing better than those, of the 20 odd piazzas I have had only 2 survived to live on, the rest were not worth fixing
The ZZ gemini's did not sell in big numbers in Japan, they were not popular like the datsuns or Toyotas, holden prolly decided rightly that they would not sell here, they would of cost more than a commodore and prolly highlighted the poor quality of the dunnydore!
Having owned lots of import gems, my holy grail is still the ZZ/L coupe, I will get one eventually, until then the ZZ/T will do
Cheers

Hello,
Rally was still quite big in the 70's and the Gems could have had a chance. In those days you bought a Car, different wheels / tyres added a Cage / seats and harness. To finish a pair of Webbers, pair of Cibies and a Halda. It was affordable for most to have a serious go at club level. Even put a 2.0 in the Car, to match the Escort. If things had evolved in to a 1 make series, plenty of Wanna be's would also have bought the Cars. We can only speculate as to what could have happened though.

Re: Gemini's I would like to own.
Sadly the Gemini has to had play second fiddle to the escort, the gem arguably being the better car but prices of escorts have gone higher than gemini's and have better aftermarket support
Re: Gemini's I would like to own.
Kadett c i reckon probably because its just different. Everything else has been done so many times
What is a typical bogan machine? Haha
I have had this car the longest (15 years) and been in/worked on/owned a lot of performance cars and you get to the point where you cant be bothered with the big restos. Its so much easier to start with a better base and not have to completely strip, cut out rust and paint cars. Id love a giocottolo or a pantera but they are like hens teeth and big dollars. Might just have to loan up a new challenger when they start selling them here for the business!

Hello,
Here is another I would like. http://www.goo-net-exchange.com/usedcar ... index.html A Coupe would be nice, the side profile still looks great after what ? 40 years ? A Classic Car never looks old, the original RX 7 was released in 1978. Still a very nice Car if some idiot hasn't put crap all over it. Why do people do that ? I am at a loss to understand at times. Like a rear spoiler made from 4 X 2's.
