The Vent
Re: The Vent
Anyone know much about trimatics? Got a kick down issue only over 80km (which is exactly when you want the c unt to double in revs) list of things Ive checked externally:
The module, hardlines, vacuum lines, the slide switch and relevant wiring attached. Im at a loss unless its the governor or something else internal.

Re: The Vent
Sounds a bit like the 4 speeds in the VN Commos where theyll kick back to third at WOT in 4th....at like 150kmh [dont ask how i know that]. Usually overly-adjusted kick down cable was the cause.
Been a long time since ive seen a Gemini with a Trimatic but from memory they didnt have kick down cables and relied on the switch to trigger it with a combination of vac from memory. Tried a different switch? Does the vac module hold vacuum?

Re: The Vent
Ive had it off and the pin works unless something internal has s*#t itself. My only thought outside of the actual trimac is a carbon build up in the hardlines. A club member has been gracious enough to have a look at it for me in the next month so hopefully he can diagnose it. Cant wait to cruise with her soon.

Re: The Vent
I bit the bullet and conceded to a proffessional automatic mechanic and it turns out its a solenoid/switch inside the g-box. Its made out of alloy so itll only start f*#cking up once the g-box oil becomes hot which is exactly what was happening. Should be sorted by the end of the week. After thats fixed all i need now is to source a radio/cassette fascia and i can call it finished and put my focus back into the tf. The ride never ends with these shitboxes hahamoley wrote:Yeah usually test it with a vac pump make sure it's working.

Re: The Vent
Well I'm still jumping through hoops to get car registered without engineering, now all I need is a scrutineer, fire extinguisher and first aid kid and they will issue it. But time to get it all done is very hard to come by

Ive got a fascia and cargo bay light switch coming from elky so after the air chiefs installed Im gonna call it quits on the wags and get back to the tf. Its pathetic to look at/drive.

Re: The Vent
I was drawing up a schematic to make something like this. Thanks for the link. Its definately on the cards, my biggest worry was hiding all the modern speakers. But under the dash, rear kick panels underneath the bench seat and a sub hidden in a suit case will do they trick.F3ARED wrote:If the AirChief works and you intend to keep it, this may be of interest to you

That was before my drivers side headlight decided to c*#t up. So a new set of denjis takes priority... i just redid the whole front end of my tf with superpro bushes and new ball joints so i have at least 1 road worthy gem this week which is a small victory as far as geminis are concerned.
If anyones got a spare drivers side square type td headlight hmu

Re: The Vent
Speakers are an arse to hide, eventually I gave up trying to hide them completely and just made them less noticable. Took me ages hunting through wreckers etc, but ended up getting aftermarket speaker grilles [Pioneer, alpine etc] from 70s/80s car audio setups and hid new speakers behind them.
