Want an engine built? Adelaide/SA

Post by archangel62 »

Hey everyone,

So I don't want to cut anyone's grass, and it's pretty clear that Darren (gemracing) is the man to go to if you want a really mean engine built... But for the many users who can't afford his top-notch work, or are looking for someone more local (Adelaide, South Australia) I am offering my services. I've built plenty of G series engines in my time. I have made mistakes, and learnt from them, and am now completely confident with my ability to build engines from the ground up, the right way, first time.

MY STANDARD OF WORKMANSHIP

All machine work is undertaken by professionals at their respective workshops, at extremely low prices - these are people I've come to know over the years of tinkering with engines. They've given me a lot of advice and help, and have been doing their jobs for decades... So they can be trusted to do it right. I will not attempt machine work myself as I am not equipped to do so.

-I re-check my work at every stage, including checking for tight spots in the lower end
-I check and adjust ring clearances to match the bore
-Following machine work, I spend hours meticulously cleaning internal parts of microscopic metal shavings, which if left will quickly nuke a fresh engine
-I use aviation grade non-hardening sealant where possible on gaskets to ensure they seal
-All surfaces prone to rust will be coated in either oil or rust buster to prevent decay before you start it
-I will ensure the engine is absolutely ready to start, and if you are in Adelaide I will assist in the first start and breaking in process.

HOW MUCH

For a rebuild to stock specs on a G***Z engine, including parts and machine work, I will generally charge $1000-$1500 depending on exactly how much you want done. However, this can easily include a G161Z head on a G200Z for high compression and a lot more "go". What's more, if you want it built to go fast, that can very easily be added in.

The prices listed are not including donor engine, you can provide one or I can source one. I require payment for all parts and machine work, at the very latest, as I order/undertake them, and then require the remaining payment for my labour upon pickup/delivery of the engine.

OTHER ENGINES

I am also able to rebuild G***W (twincam) engines. Spme parts are readily available at similar prices, however some will need to be custom made. Most parts I can get made cheaply (e.g. timing case gaskets), some a bit more expensive (head gaskets - copper custom is the easiest solution, $100+), and some I haven't yet managed to source, such as cam bearings and sump gaskets.

I may be interested in rebuilding other engines such as 4Z series, however I will need to check on prices for parts.

WHAT DOES IT INCLUDE?

My standard rebuild includes most/all of the following, at your discretion:

-Bores honed (machine hone optional)
-Piston rings
-Crank inspected, measured and reground as needed by a crank specialist
-Crank bearings
-Crank thrust bearings
-Rod bearings
-Head faced
-Valve stem seals replaced (optional)
-Valve regrind (optional)
-Block surface cleaned up, decked if necessary
-Head gasket (graphite or copper)
-Main seals front and rear
-Timing case gaskets, inlet & exhaust gaskets, rocker cover gasket
-Sump gasket
-Oil filter
-New timing chain tensioner if necessary
-New welch plugs if necessary
-New cast pistons (optional)
-Oil pump inspected (new one optional)
-Water pump inspected

EXTRA OPTIONS

Possible additions to get more performance include:
-Head porting and pressure testing
-Fitment of an aftermarket cam and valvesprings
-Shaving head for more compression
-Copper head gaskets, which I will guarantee not to leak*
-O-ringing of block, to further insure against copper head gaskets leaking*
-Balancing lower end
-Valve regrind and bigger valves fitted for more head flow
-Forged pistons (add $1000+)
-Boring out the block

*I will guarantee my copper head gaskets for NA setups, however I strongly recommend o-ringing the block when using copper HG's for forced induction

I am also capable of planning external performance modifications including turbocharging, supercharging, EFI, ethanol etc, and can rebuild the internals accordingly, however I won't go into detailed setups here because there's simply too many to list, and I have less experience in that department.

CONTACTING ME

If you would like more information, or to enquire about a build, PM me here or email eli_sez_yo@hotmail.com
I am also contactable by phone however I would prefer initial contact be made via the internet as I work at allsorts of crazy times.

I am located in Windsor Gardens, Adelaide SA 5087, and can arrange transport of engines to all areas of Adelaide at a reasonable cost, rural areas by negotiation.
