EOI: Thermo fan switch thermostat housings

Post by Lil Willsy »

As stated an expression of interest, still in development stages.
Sick of water leaks from the wire in the radiator hose for your thermo fan you just fitted?
Sick of the ugly look of the unit itself?

I Am currently making a thermostart housing that incorporates a switch so your thermo will come on automatically but will look factory.
these will be polished and include the switch and a wiring diagram on how to wire in your thermo

Prices yet due to still adding up costs
And these will be on an exchange basis
You send me your housing and upon its arrival I will express post your new housing.
I will upload photos of finished product as its completed.

If Your interested please let me know.
cheers, michael.

Well, yes, as I will be using the exchange housings to continue making them.

Me and my old man turned one out, using a fuel meiser thermatic switch and a after market thermo housing:

The old thermo housings dont have quite enough meat on em:

Drilled, machined and tapped:

Plenty of clearance for the thermostat:

Taking into consideration not everyone has a lathe or taps, or the other necessary tools to do it themselves, so its just as well other members are willing too.

As far as wiring is concerned i have mine set up to kick in automatically once the cars temp reaches whatever setting was on the switch as well as a manual switch inside the car to start the fan in advance.

Hope this helps your endevour in someway mate.

^^ this, I was just thinking when reading the original post that there is still plenty of brand new housings available and it's not like they are terribly expensive, why wouldn't you just buy a bunch of new ones and just sell them complete rather than do an exchange on them?
typically most of the ones you get sent back would be half buggered anyway.

EDIT: just checked ebay, less than $50 posted for a new unit exactly like the one posted above, and they are in abundance so no risk of running out any time soon, just drill and tap.

Hahaha on par with how much mine cost, plus you wouldnt have to spend all day turning and fitting it.

As said, you can buy them new easily Willsy. Sounds like a better option to me, just charge a bit more to cover it. Only issue is the initial outlay. My local parts shops have them in stock often so you could take a few paid orders and grab them as required.

I'm interested if you go ahead with it.
