Bolt in bonnet struts

Post by gemsince88 »

Sorry to say people but I will no longer be doing these. They are simply not worth my time. I am over the idea as well as people wasting my time. If you need bonnet struts for your Gemini get hold of Grant Page on Facebook, he does them for $100 delivered.
Now if you really, really really want a set of these then call my work on 0249612122.

No cutting or drilling, just a couple of bolts. Specifically designed for Gemini!
These are custom struts made where I work.

Please read all the information below before puchasing!

As of July 1 2018
$180 + postage per pair

Just one thing with the stainless struts is that the ball cup at the bonnet end is silver painted zinc plated steel as these angled fittings are not available in stainless.

Or a combination of stainless and black.

Can also supply new tailgate struts for wagons in black or stainless.

Warranty Information
As these are usually installed by the customer then,
Straight from the boss's mouth.
"There is 12 month warranty on the strut only providing that it is not bent, shaft damaged or label removed."
I would imagine that if something like a bracket was not made properly or the wrong parts sent then it would be replaced.

Since I have been making these a few issues have come up and need addressing.
1. On the black sets the steel extension is prone to rusting so these are now painted black along with the angled ball cup.
2. On the stainless sets the ball stud at the bonnet end is not available with 6mm thread in stainless so these are 10mm ball studs with 8mm thread turned down in the lathe and rethreaded. The issue is the die will not cut the thread on the stainless cleanly and so look rough with some more than others. I do try and check this when doing them but my eyes aren't the best and when I'm busy some slip through. If you do end up with a set of bad ball studs, as stated above, let me know and I'll send another pair out.

Fitting destruction's!

There is 2 ways of fitting
1 Fit the entire assembly
2 Fit bracket and balls separately

Remove front bolt from bonnet hinge and replace with ball.

Loosen all top guard bolts and remove the bolt that lines up with the bracket. Slide the bracket in between the 2 panels, replace bolt and tighten everything back up. NOTE there is a LEFT and RIGHT bracket which I usually mark as such. To be sure when fitted the ball on the bracket sits slightly further forward of the guard bolt.
