Metal will begin to rust as soon as it is bare due to moisture in the air.
even if you can't see it yet, it's quite possibly there.

That's going from my personal experience and advice from multiple panel beaters/old people.

Interesting stuff elky

I took some pix of my Isuzu's US options (Tilt steering stalk, engine bay w/ battery on rt side & brake master cylinder/steering linkage on left. Tried to get close-ups of all factory spec decals, too which are all legible & clean. Even has hold-down bracket only warning labels below the rear bumper!) with my Mom's digi camera while at St Augustine this past week. I will be back over to the beach house before she leaves 7JAN & if possible I will document the tranny hump configuration & the back seat platform if ya want.

I sure wish we got the DOHC here. It's gonna be something to see when done!

metal

Post by elky »

covering the whole lot in rust converter??

that would b nearly as much work to remove prior to etching!!!

car is half etched now too....

rust wise this is the best gem i have EVER had, so minor it could of just been bogged over, but i cut it out and welded fresh metal in, this car is as near to 100% rust free as you can practically get without taking the floor back to bare....
more pics soon

cheers

A Gemini without rust, that is almost unheard of!!! (lucky prick). Mine was rust free except around the back windscreen and due to that a little bit in the boot floor, I think the factory must've ran out of windscreen sealant :x .

Is that bog on the front apron now? :)
Looking good anyway

Was there any rust starting behind the front guards at the usual spots or did Isuzu do a better job than Holden at painting that stuff?
