Nimbus' Pics from Ozday 2010
Nimbus' Pics from Ozday 2010
I'll do this chronologically again, it's easier.
I didn't take as many shots as last year, and most of them are pretty rough, sorry.
Roddy and I left Melbourne around 2pm on Thursday. Our first stop was to say G'day to Germy and one of his mate's in Albury.
We made it up to Canberry around 11pm and caught up with Jonno. After a good sleep at chateau Hemsworth, we returned to the open road with a few more comrades.
Whilst the crew fortified themselves with Mcshit at Goulburn, I got in some early morning shots.
In Sydney we met up with Andrew (ajs991), and spent the rest of the day carving our way through the offensive heat.
We rolled into Port around 5:30pm.
Rod and I must smell, because all the Canberrians set up camp bloody miles away!
I barely had time to smash down 5 beers and fill the spa, then these guys rocked up.
Their 3 hour drive managed to somehow chew up a whole day, but spirits, (and Loki's coolant temps) were high.
We all marvelled at Andrew's amazing auto tent that seems to be top heavy, and promptly got into the booze.
Later that night, Grant called with bad news. His car had made it over the border and went pop.
Then Benny turned up.
I'll let someone else describe his antics.
Next morning, Rod decided to find out what the strange noise that had developed was.
Turns out a chunk of genuine CDT weld had genuinely dislodged from the exhaust manifold, and genuinely made an arse of itself in the turbine club.
No biggy.
Here's some pics from the day.
Been awhile since these cousins have caught up.
Hopefully next year the whole family can come along.
More from that arvo.
About then, Jonno's starter motor went on extended leave.
That night, Andrew donated a sizeable amount of bourbon, and we mixed up a 20L bourbon cola keg to dispense with the SpaVara. It's fair to say there was a little drunken conduct. About then was the nudie run. I have no words to adequately describe what we witnessed. fukn awesome.
Either way, Vlad and I made what I believe to be the most conscious effort to drink all the booze, we saw the sun rise, but there was still some left.
After a 3 hour sleep in the searing heat, it was time to go to the meet point. Thank god I had no car there, I'd have been in no state to drive it.
We then pushed on for a cruise. Cheers to Nick for sorting all that out.
Here's the guilty party.
I was able to halt the cruise so I could collect some oysters, I love oysters.
Then it was up some mountain. Nice road. Graeme and I burned up ahead to get a vantage point for action shots. They were taken with a long shutter speed with slow moving cars, the shots didn't all turn out perfect.
^awesome!
^fun to drive!
Nice view at the top eh.
^Pushing Jonno's
That night was pretty chill. We sat around having a quiet one talking sh!t. Everyone crashed out early as.
Next morning it was time to push on, so after a tearful farewell, it was back to the highway.
Made use of sunset that night with a few shots.
Well, that's my weekend. Thankyou to everyone who participated, I had a cracker of a time, and I'm looking forward to next year. This time at Easter, and a bit more south.
If anyone wants a higher res shot of their car or you saw me take one you want, shoot me a PM
