That's a BIG f*#k up!firebug wrote:Umm no 31st was right. I didn't know the supercruise was on the Sunday.
It's sorta locked in for the Sunday now. I cant attend the Saturday anyway as I'm working. What do you want to do??
I won't be doing the hillclimb on the Sunday! Supercruise has always been on the Sunday not to mention the place we are having lunch at is expecting us Sunday.

Panic over...
After an exhausting hour phone call to Greg at MGCCN we have a good plan in place to have it moved to Saturday 30th. His only concern is the availability of St Johns Ambulance but he also has a plan B for that as well. So he said to say he's 99.9% sure that the Saturday will be fine. I've left a 0.1% allowance for error so as I don't look like a dick twice in one thread.
So my apologies for the "BIG f*#k up!" but it looks like I have rectified it. This bloody event has occupied every spare thought I have had over the past couple of months. I have posted this event in a number of forums and had the date (31st) posted in those forums so it never crossed my mind that it wasn't common knowledge on this one, being that this is the forum that counts. So my bad...
That aside, if I cant get time off work I'll at least be there in the morning up to lunch time to meet everybody and help out where ever I can.
The blue battery marker triangle mentioned earlier is needed to race so that can be sorted on the day. It will be as simple as some blue tape stuck on the appropriate panel.
Fuel can be a factor. Most you guys will have driven from the Central Coast to Ringwood, about an hour and a half drive. So options are to leave enough time to fuel up before you arrive, take a jerry can with you if you are looking to run the car light, or pop out during the day to refuel when you get low.
Lunch: He asked me to ask what everyone's thoughts were with lunch. They can provide some eskys with drinks and a sausage sizzle at reasonable prices if you wish, or can leave it to you guys to sort/bring your own refreshments. Reason he is asking is so they don't go to the trouble of setting up the food and drinks only to have little to no interest.
Also the day doesn't have to comprise of only Hillclimb. They have other activities that they will offer at the driver's briefing that you might like to try.

Thanks for sorting that out, I know its stressful and hard to organise an event like this, and I appreciate the effort you've put in (despite the oops haha - i can laugh about it now its fixed). It sounds like you managed to get the best option sorted, so thats awesome. Now, you need to get your own time off work so you can enjoy it too!
I think the bbq is a good idea, but since theres so few in the first place can easily bring a packed lunch from the nats if need be instead.
Suggestion for those who are coming and havnt done this type of thing before - make sure your seats are screwed in tight, gemi seats tend to loosen off a bit a rock around and they most likely will grab it by the head rest and shake it to test for solid mounting.

Good work man!
Turns out it was a call from people for a job. (which I now have )
Things happen oh well wouldn't be a gemini thing if there was a hiccup.
good notes above for people and probably worth while remembering
FULL FACED HELMETS
Happy days!

Greg said that open face is permitted as long as it carries the AS1698 sticker. Personally I'm with Jonno, I'd only wear a full face helmet. Mainly so I don't scare the flag marshals on the way past. So the point is that whatever the style of helmet, it must carry the AS1698 sticker. If you have issues regarding a helmet then please PM me...
Yes 202gem, that's what the sticker looks like. However for this come and try day we dont need the arrow on it. It needs to be about 150mm along each side. We will have some stuff there to help everyone who has a road car without stickers.
Also cars that are obviously leaking oil need a clean up before scrutineering. If it wouldn't pass rego then it'll be frowned upon...

In Australia helmets have to have that approval to be sold. So unless you have imported yours yourself, they should all be fine. All motor bike helmets should be fine. But its still worth checking just to be sure, and so you can point to the sticker should any trouble arise.
Ive seen blue triangles made from 3 strips of blue insulation tape. So long as we have a roll of that, should be fine.
Also note:
c) Non-flammable clothing, including cover from throat to wrists to ankles (apparel of Nylon
or similar material is forbidden)
That means long sleve top, and long pants. Be sure to pack some!
