Depending on how they run it;:
Blue battery triangle.
Covered positive battery terminal.
Fire extinguisher mounted within reach of the driver.
As/nzs approved helmet.

Go to it ...

To add to Dave's post, they were consentrating on the car being in a generally safe condition. No parts of your car loose, firm seat mounts, belts in good nick, tyres in good nick, long clothing and sturdy footware...

Yep, they werent that strict simce it was a come and try day. They pointed out a few things I would need to do of it were a real event but let slide for this, like having things in the centre console. If the car is safe and not obviously unroadworthy youd be fine.

They didnt check my battery at all, but it was in the tray so maybe it slipped their minds. Didnt check helmet either.

Leniency may not be quite so generous next year given that OZGEM will be attending for the 2nd time and the rules should be pretty well known in 2014.

The MGCC guys indicated that the KISS theory would be maintained for 2014 but IMO only ... always better to be over prepared and not need it than rock up half arsed with your hopes up and be turned away.

i can tell you with my gemini, in 1st gear (its an auto i left in 1st) i was regularly hitting the limiter (6000rpm) and with my diff and tyres its about 100kph, but half the time when i was hitting the limiter was from wheel spin, i doubt i would have seen much over 70-80kms at the fastest probably!

I'll most likely be going over in a Diesel ute and need to have battles with marty again!
Keep ur TF tow it over.

Problem solved.
I sold my motor :(

With any luck I could still trailer the skyline over, but I really didn't want to bring a skyline to Gemini Nationals 2 years in a row. :(

Surely one of the guys around there have a 1600 they can lend you?
If you lived over here you could borrow my spare running 1600.

Im still hoping to attend, and so far its looking possible. But I wont say yes until its confirmed. Ross would probably be a yes too in that case. If I do it again I'll bring the sr20 gem over.

The green machine is getting close to rolling under its own power. Hopefully the extra horsepower will make up for the lack of skill by April... Image
