Ok, spoke to Greg on the weekend.

He said that the CAMS office has been closed over Christmas and has only just been back in business. However they have still not released the 2014 permit fees as yet. Greg said if there is an increase in fees it is usually only 5%. He said they should release them by the end of the month...

There are a few options available to us:

1/ Long track not finished. Race the short track, timed the same as last year. Private track hire. Request to CAMS to do another come n try day (=similar cost to last year). If not, apply for a practice day permit (= unknown cost to me as yet).

2/ Long track finished. Hopefully timing up and running. Private track hire. Request to CAMS to do another come n try day (=similar cost to last year). If not, apply for a practice day permit (= unknown cost to me as yet).

3/ Long track finished. Merge with interstate competitors who are interested in doing a possible practice session over 2 days (one day for us). MGCCN run day. Full timing available. This option is the cheapest available according to Greg and could be as low as $70-$80/driver. However we would have to share the track with the others. The interstate competitors wont be there to get in lots of runs for fun, but to do set ups on the cars. ie: couple of runs, stop for adjustments, repeat. Not known how many interstate competitors are interested in this option. Could be only 10, might be 30... We get all our times at the end that I can make into a spreadsheet for all to see...

That's the info I have to date. Something to chew on until we get some definite pricing at the end of this month.

Hmm ok.

I'd be happy to have it as option 3 pending everyone elses thoughts? We'd only really need it for best part of Saturday anyway.

I'm not sure how it ran last time but could do it the same way we do skid pan.

Numbers on the back do your run go to the back of line.
I'd wouldn't be so happy if the "serious" people came and thought I'll run hard make two adjustments then head back onto the track.

What ever is the easiest. People on PF are keen so just need to know the finers and we will have a few more starters.

I also rang Cazz and he is out due to Uni committments.

I'll call/text Roddy tonight (keep forgetting) and see what his play is. I'm sure he would be keen

I'm cool with this too pending the bottom bit. Not going to be overly impressed if I pay the same money and they get a lot more track time because they're "serious".

Last year it was run as per skidpan Jonno and worked well.

The trouble with option 3 (not that I'm against it, just pointing out) is the serious guys will have paid the same money as we have so will want to utilize the day. I just figure they wont be 'hot lapping'. The queue system you mentioned is what will probably happen though.

Also if we opt for option 3 then the inviting more people from other forums will become irrelevant. The cost will remain the same but we would have to line up with more numbers... :?

Hmm ok.
Let us know what old mate hears back from CAMS and we can make a informed decision I guess.

i'd be happy with less runs, last time i had to wait for my motor to cool down to run again lol!

in all seriousness, i really arn't too bothered with whichever, option 3 while it might mean less runs also has a lesser price than last yr, and it would also mean you'd see a lot more variety of cars there which is interesting also.

provided something is in place to allow people to have even amount of runs (if they so choose) is probably the only thing, aside from that sounds good!

That's an excellent point.

Most someone had was 19 runs, least was about 12 runs , according to the spreadsheet I made up in last year's thread. No one noticed the null excel tabs on that spreadsheet either... :?

Oh far out!

I'd be happy with 5 - 7 if we ran with option 3?

Assuming we had a huge number of cars. Wait and see what happens with the CAMS stuff I guess.

I got 8 runs, but I guess with the way we did it that was 8 x 2 - minus one of them I think but yeah, pretty well didn't stop all day, have a run, check fuel, change tyres pressures, and a bit of data log analysis and its time to go again!

I had to keep waiting for the oil to stop bubbling out of the breather
It was a pretty hot day though.

I definitely didn't need any more runs, the open diff was annoying and the clutch was slipping on the last few runs too.
