Take a few extra days to regroup with the Brisbane people in case you need repairs.

Ok another inland option - Singleton.

Several caravan parks:
http://www.wylandcaravanpark.com/
http://www.countryacres.com.au/
http://www.caravan-parkfinder.com.au/ca ... ravan-park

54 mins to Go Karts compared to 49

1hr to hill climb compared to 1hr17

Has a Supercheap and a Repco.

Hunter River for fishing.

Maccas, KFC, subway etc is all there.

Cruise route go down the Putty Road to Grey Gum Café and back. 1hr15 or 90kays each way.

Also is 9hr 30 from Brisbane compared to 9hr 45, 17hr 40 from Adelaide compared to 16hr 40, 11hr 5 from Melbourne compared to 10hr 20 and 4hr 50 from Canberra compared to 4hr 5. So not too much difference in the grand scheme of things.

and if your number are assuming the old road then its probably 10 minutes quicker for alot of them or more....

a few weeks ago the hunter expressway opened! from singleton to newcastle in like 45 minutes! used to be a good 1.5 hrs for that trip!

(yes i drive to singleton and back from east maitland every day for work :P)

It's not Hell, but you can sure see it from there...

Surely other areas around the Hunter Valley or Port Stephens would be a nicer stay?

(No offense to anyone living or dying in Singleton)

i agree with firebug, i'd prefer to drive the 45 minutes every day to live where i do :)

that said its not so bad, like you've mentioned theres plenty of stuff there for food and such, but its definately not much more, and theres nothing next door other than coal mines and such, thats pretty much the reason for singletons existance!

probably the biggest thing you'd miss if you had a long weekend here is the water, there is none unless it rains!

Not really a problem, water hardly gets used anyway. And ask Andrew about rain, they'd prefer none!

One thing I like about the coast, is the hot sluts. Will there still be hot sluts inland?

I'd be against making the trek any longer if I could help it, but it's not drastically different I suppose.

The surrounds were fairly nice at The Entrance. Or somewhere inland like the Blue Mountains etc.

Time for my input. I think its being a bit hard on the southerners..

17 hours compared to 9 isnt right. I personally dont mind driving a bit more , obviously i want to avoid sydney , it adds a tremendous amount of time onto the drive. If there was a similar town to singleton , in the far western parts of sydney , that would be good. I have been searching maps , but havent found anything caravan park wise on a lake or similar.
Getting too old for this s*#t!!
