Skid pan at home is $130 to get on in Sydney $180 PLUS licencing...
This isnt actually a horrible idea...
They have a nice facility and top notch blokes IMPE

Having said that i live in the sticks so im used to a 2hr drive for motorsport haha

Skid pan in Canberra?

I got a good thing with 5th Gear who run it to. It's the closest thing we've got here and is simple. Only thing is we'd have to leave the coast at like 6am IF it was at somewhere like Kiama.

Ok so. EOI's went out on the facebook page to discuss track day.

I've contacted Marulan DTC and they're happy to accommodate, I may have mentioned this. This (could) potentially be covered by a published magazine as well.

Now the EOI is on the facebook group > https://www.facebook.com/GeminiNationals/ and there seems to be a large number of people registering their interest and not people that A. Never have money or B. Just want their name on the page i.e. time wasters. Actual setup race cars and such.

The location issue remains.

For Old Man Cousins benefit I looked up a brand new location which should remove the need to drive down MacQuarie Pass.
For the record. I am yet to find a suitable location INLAND at this stage. However given our options I've looked up this so far

Option 1. Back to Two Shores and another year of Central Coast and probably less likely to have a track day.
Pros.
We know the joint.
The peoples like us.
Cruisey atmosphere nice location
Never had a real problem there (i.e. crowd, us, thefts)
Patch of grass isn't bad an imprint of Andrews left twice a day chair firm.
15ks to major shops and 30 to slide karts (maybe a con also)
Purple Monkey Dishwasher
Cons.
Been there done that
Fat kids stole the pool
Fat kids gave me self esteem issues
Fat kids kept rating the bucket. (WHY!@?#!@)

Option Willsy. Kiama for a Nice Time
Pros.
Been there before.
Location is ace.
1.30 to race track.
Old mates looked after us o-k
Equal travel time for almost everyone outta state

Cons.
Close to public beach (if we got to Kendals Beach)
Base of a big hill - Fatcuntslikemecan'twalkup
Public carpark next to beach in the van park.
Can't remember amenities
Unsure about cabins and things
Unsure about go karts and things

Option 3 the unexplored
I've found this joint
http://www.wollongongtouristparks.com.a ... fault.aspx (the main parks link)
More so this one > http://www.wollongongtouristparks.com.a ... fault.aspx
Pros.
New
Some nice places in the region according to google.
No need for macquarie pass.
Trip advisor says good times.
Cons.
New.
Potential for spruce moose
Last time we went somewhere new it was s*#t.

Open to suggestions thoughts opinions.

No s*#t slinging etc please.

PS IF THE TRACK DAY is unfeasible I will probably suggest we return to Two shores at the The Entrance.
I/we are able/happy to go sus out the above.

The Victorian input.

Greg is the furthest away at 1000km, pretty much on the opposite side of Melbourne. Im the closest at 934km, and Roddy is somewhere in the middle. One of the issues we face is none of the trio gets the luxury of extra time off to complete the trip [except for Roddy this year]. Both Greg and I worked a full day and had to leave straight after work - neither of us are able to swing any extra days to stop over night for some rest. Cry me a river etc but it is what it is. It means having to do the trip in one hit after being at work from 7am, which we've done the last two years. Not impossible, but it gets a bit tiring being the sole driver [mrs refuses to drive my car]. Red Bulls will only get you so far. Another pain in the ass is Penant Hills Road. Depending on day it can increase trip time by as much as an hour.

The issue ive got is my change of circumstance next year means it will be IMPOSSIBLE to do 10hrs behind the wheel in one day to get to The Entrance. Not open for negotiation. Not possible. With the increase in stops ill need to make, it means ill be awake over 24hrs straight. Not going to happen.

Kiama would bring the trip down from our way by about 150km. Not a huge magic-bullet sorta deal breaker, but having that 1.5hrs up my sleeve would help massively. In land or coastal doesnt bother me, although the coast is prettier to look at.

Wollongong I dont think is a good alternative/location. Beautiful place from what ive seen of it, but its more small-city than small holiday town. This would make it difficult to find somewhere that can acomodate all of us, plus being a more populated area it would also mean we are probably more likely to get on the wrong side of NSW Finests. Not ideal.

In terms of track day, as ive said to you Jonno im in 100% regardless of if its a skidpan or hill climb or track day. Not fussed either way.

I clocked 905km on the speedo on the way home from 2 shores. Unsure of actual travel time though. Had to fill up 4 times due to new motor chewing juice lol.

I sussed out the 'gong and there doesnt seem to be much around there. Still no joy in finding something inland. Google maps just wont work properly for me in firefox :(

Yeah I agree, unfortunately there's nothing in the gong. Was just an idea. (same inland my maps just shows a whole lot of not much)

Two Shores V Kendals I think is the dice roll.

Waiting on confirmation on a few elements from MDTC see the consensus. Then flip a coin.

From the general consensus we've got
"I don't mind where it goes the less travelling the better for us though" Everyone from Adelaide
or "Yeah go south of Sydney for a change. 5 years North is valid for a change"
And Andrew refusing to move.

In other news the invite has extended out to the Isuzu Car Club of Australia also. Hopefully they're able to make it or come along at any stage over the weekend

My Adelaidean input:

Basically what Jonno said above, not too fussed but less travel time is nice. That being said it's robbing Peter to pay Paul unless we look at batshit nowhere like Cobar (no offense anyone) lol - short of doing a rotational setup like the Bellett guys (and risking crap attendance because we're lazy Gemini guys).

Anyway purely for travel time, Kiama is about 1.5 hours better for us at 13h45 each way plus stops.

Besides the practicality, let's face it, Australia is a big place and I doubt any of us get enough chance to explore it, so my suggestion is to do something new or different. For me Kiama is new and different since I've only ever done The Entrance (something something she said). Also we all know I'm a hopeless hoon so I'm up for any and every motoring event, the faster the better. One day I might even tow the drift Gem to one of these things...

If you need help researching a place or looking at logistics just yell out, I plan trips for work all the time, albeit only for me.

Thanks Eli.

The EOI get cereal thing is up on facebook.
Holden Gemini Nationals:
Good Morning!

I'm just finalising the expression of interests for the Gemini Nationals next year.

I've contacted the track about private hiring and looks like we have sorted out the pricing for Saturday the 31st of March 2018

At this stage we are allowing up to 30 entrants. However we are working on the pricing of 25 entrants.

The pricing will be effected dependent on how many people we get to this and we will need a $100 deposit for a place.
This unfortunately will incur a $25 non-refundable element for processing and backout fee to ensure ever base is covered.

Entry currently is $214 + Licencing.
If you already have a Minimum of a L2S valid CAMS competition licence this need not apply to you. The licence can be purchased on the day and is valid for 12months.

To get this rolling ideally we need to know your decision before the end of May with intend to put down a deposit by end of July so we can fully lock in the date and track hire.
MDTC guidelines state that 25% track hire deposit must be put down before they can confirm that this is booked. It is also non-refundable.
I will update the final payment figure once all the entries are sorted. Again we are currently budgeting for the minimum amount of entrants.

Full payment of entry must be paid No later than 31st January 2018

If this doesn't sound like something you would be interested in or can't make it for any particular reason please let us know. Don't just say nothing. This way we know figures and stuff.

Thanks!

And then you loose. Sadtrombone.wav

Actually to put it into perspective.
$214 for the day is pretty decent. Not cheap but average.
Price break down.
The 'cheap entry' price that I was originally working off wasn't including timing or for Saturday which in their books is classed as a public holiday. Fair is fair whatevs.

So we opted in for a timed event. To have a timed event warrants a paramedic to be on site.
They both aren't free or part of the deal. So we had to add them in unfortunately. Add ins like Ice cream at cold rock sent the price Northways.

Hillclimb we had stop watched timing (nothing wrong with that) but that designated someone to time everyone. At least by paying them we don't have to worry about this and I'd suggest that they've got digital timing devices that stick to the car.

Getting booked on the street costs minimum $500 if they don't impound your car. And that's assuming they don't get you directly for street racing. I dunno how it is in every state but I'd say the fines are higher.
Ask me how I know that.
