5 speed will be a disadvantage if anything due to extra weight, but i sure wouldnt want to change to a mandated 4 speed if i already had a 5 speed..

if you're offering the $200 to every victorian to get a road worthy then i'm for it...

but seriously i have an i.c.e racing elec ignition, dual carbies, wild cam, big valves, pacemakers all laying aorund. spend $1000 on crazy head work and its all done in a registered car with $500 left over... challenge sounds to easy...

People are taking this comp the wrong way I feel...

Start with a stock engine (rebuilt is fine on stock form) then any mods you have already or do to the car have a dollar value (extractors and full exhaust 150 second hand)

That's my interpretation to make it fair

thats pretty much it , its not meant to be a challenge where you use a re existing hot motor and add $1500 worth of go fast goodies.. The rules pretty much say what is allowed and not allowed.

This seems like a good idea but too many variables in it buy haveing to many rules

lets say one guy has the high comp engine parts at home from years ago just lieing around but needs a twin weber set up so there his 1500

and the next guy doesnt what does he do they is no way they would even be close thats why the 13,s for 1300 did not work

what did work is the old 10s for 10,000 no rules just that start from scratch for 10 gees buts its a lot of coin to do that

if i was over that way id be in

some things to think about is this to make it fair

built block high comp etc but stock intake one carb
stock block but open intake
one form of fi
if running turbo no ic no cooling injection pump fuel 98 ron only

that way some people can and have accesst to cheep parts accross the board

the whole idea is to build a quick 1600. Read the rules fully and you'll see parts you have laying about require a "fair value" price input.

yea i did read them and im not trying to hate on the idea but

whats fair value on a set of hc pistons no one wonts to buy normally ?

a 15 year old cam that has hugh potential that is found that normally would be throwin away

what if some one buys a head they think is stock but has some huge porting etc

my point was with the rules set out they way they are you are maximising the potential of a few not including the potentioal of the masses

Quick question... Why must the Gem's only be Manual? Why can't we run Auto's? I would like to have a crack, but im not doing a Manual conversion.

Cheers Clint
