lol wicked dude...
first thing to do is weld an aluminium bend onto the comp housing so i can get rid of a silicone bend, and fit the BOV, then i can send stuff to be polished!
second on the agenda is to pull the motor and remove the sump for an inspection, make sure everything is ok down there in case i need to raise the rev limit (it's at 8K at the moment).
then send things to be coated and whack it all back together, then retune time!

first prototype, apart
23 spline standard axle on left, 28 spline chromoly axle on right

Hey man, bleary-eyed and just finished reading through this whole thread, I love this car like a fat kid loves birthday cake. Also, as I'm sure you can imagine, I'm pretty damn interested in the engine, since my latest big plan is a crazy D1 for my drift car. Obviously I'd be focusing on response, but I'd still want to crack the 200rwkw. Whilst I'm sure I could ask ten thousand questions, there are a couple that stand out!
- What kind of head are you running, and/or what kind of work has gone into it? Is it a worked D1 head? Or did you buy one of the new E1 heads and go from there?
- What sort of compression ratio (and fuel) are you running? Have you found a boost level where pinging becomes an issue?
-What's the low/midrange response like? Obviously it's not what you're going for specifically, but still!
-How big's the cam? And can you recommend anyone for forged D1 pistons?
Any info appreciated - if you have the time!
Cheers
Eli

yeah mate i used a brand new aftermarket head, one of the china ones is the best, the amc spanish one is no good due to casting flash going into the port on the outside!

BP98, 18psi with the old turbo, 7:1 on the dot, hasnt pinged once! dont be afraid of running low comp, it has nowhere near the effect on response as everyone makes out. the hot side of the turbo has a MUCH greater effect.

freaking massive cam kills "off idle" but once you're over 2000 rpm it's not too bad, the capacity definitely helps.

450 thou lift, 300 degree duration with wide lobe centres to make it work with forced induction. too crazy for the street, but perfect for giving it a 4000rpm powerband!
Any info appreciated - if you have the time!
Cheers

so yeah i just found out that due to the wastegate issues i had on the dyno last year, having to fix it at 1am the night before jambo, i actually was running 16 psi all year and about 300rwhp, not the 18 psi and 328rwhp that i thought it had! so yeah it ran a 12.007 @ 117 on 300rwhp. makes sense now...
it now has a LOT more hp
