Keen for brake setup man.
I reckon I'll ditch the VTs and run these when you've proven they're easy enough to setup.

Yeah its pretty nasty - besides the obviously visible, the boot floor is now rippled/wavy and the drivers rear rail appears to be bent in two directions [in and up]. Cant establish the extent of it yet as the boot is jammed shut and panelshop was unwilling to damage it further to open it. Commodore hit us at 40 odd kmh while we were stationary, im just glad the little one was at my mother inlaws and both my mrs and I stepped out unscathed.

Not really the way i wanted 10 years of ownership to end.

That's sad to see. Walking away unscathed is good news though.

Looking at that pic though I believe it's repairable (I suppose anything is for the right money). Get that boot open and have a look. It looks too tidy to let go...

I wonder what the insurance company will come up with.
It does pay to be insured with Shannon's, if someone hits mine it's 35k and I get the car back for free

Everything is technically repairable; at some point however you need to draw the line in the sand and know when to walk away. So far, hardly anyone wants to even look at it for insurance purposes to quote it let alone rack it square/replace the rear quarters and rear beaver for me. I could probably attempt the panel replacement myself but theres not much i can do about getting it square. This is also the third big accident the old girl has been in - was rear ended some time in its past pretty hard so shes about as rigid as a wet noodle. It just doesnt make sense from a financial or time/effort perspective to persist with fixing it out of sentimentality sadly - with a young family, house to renovate etc this is my line in the sand. Easier to start with a new shell and do some rust repairs.

Im also convinced the f*#cking thing is cursed

Insurance will be interesting to deal with given I didnt have agreed value on it. For those playing at home, in a not-at-fault scenario like this, the process is essentially as follows:

-Quote for damage. In my case, the panel shop declared it a total loss
-Submit notice of demand to the insurer of the other party
-Include relevant paperwork from panel shop and photos of damage
-Set your price/demand, including price - salvage cost

Your rights in a situation like this are quite good; you are actually entitled to a loan that can be organized via a third party and billed to the insurer. Indemnity gives you rights in relation to not being left worse-off than pre-accident, so the insurer cant just say f*#k ya you are getting 3k - you can actually challenge them on that figure, and if you are not satisfied with their offer, you can take it to the ombudsman. Between the cost of the hire car [companies like right2drive bill insurers approx 120ish a day for a Barina] and the legal fees should you challenge them and take it to the ombudsman, the insurer would be mad to piss in your pocket for too long because your looking at 1700 odd just in hire car costs. They can request to do a live assessment and see the car in person, which is what they most likely will do - they are within their rights on that, which is fine.

In terms of setting a price, if you be stupid they will obviously tell you to get f*#cked but be realistic in the condition your car is in and provide justification as to why you are demanding that price and you should be ok. Stuff like saving advertisements of cars for sale in varying conditions as a comparison, sold results, buyers guides etc will go a long way to arguing your position.

His insurer has been hit with a notice of demand yesterday morning, we will see now how quickly they run their numbers and come to the party. They gave me some bulls*#t on monday about their client not having paid his excess yet which is why they havent contacted me...completely irrelevant, and as the victim, you are not obliged to wait for them to pay their excess especially given they have already made the claim/provided the claim number.
