Re: Te diesel torque tube mods
i would think just about any engineering shop should be able to do it ?
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!!

Re: Te diesel torque tube mods
Anyone that can weld can do it ,, just fit the bar and weld ,, just keep in mind , to fit in a late model housing the shaft can't be thicker than the gearbox thinner side , but for a early model steel housing it can be as thick as the diff thicker side ,,
Re: Te diesel torque tube mods
When's the crossover from steel to alloy?
I've a te diesel , I am under the impression it's a little different, and if its that simple ill weld it myself, where's everyone get the chrom moly tube from ?

And also any guide to thickness would be a point in the right direction

Re: Te diesel torque tube mods
Is your housing round ?
Re: Te diesel torque tube mods
Nope not the early steel one. As Ant said, if you want to keep that housing, you can only go as thick as the gearbox end. Or source a steel one. I got mine from Elky. PM me your number and I'll send a pic of the steel one when I get home.
Re: Te diesel torque tube mods
how hard is it to adapt a steel one to the current setup? Or machine out the alloy housing at the gearbox side for a bigger shaft, or even mount a bearing midway down the shaft for support
How much is elky's and is that including a thicker shaft
The car is receiving a vg30et with a big turbo, c4 trans and a transbrake, I just don't want it to go bang

Re: Te diesel torque tube mods
No modifying at all to for an early steel housing , bolts up the same ,, the problem with the late model housing which you have , is it narrows in the centre , it would be difficult to machine that out , I just bough a spare steel torque tube from here on ozgem , it was $40 + postage
, I think you might be a bit confused, the early model torque tube housings don't have a thicker shaft in them already , they just allow a thicker shaft to be fabricated & fitted

Re: Te diesel torque tube mods
Doesn't the diesel have a JDM diff with shorter length torque tube and that big crossmember mount bolted up near each trailing link mount?
Which would mean a steel torque tube would be the wrong length.
