Cheers man!

Suspected Lovell springs front and rear, at the time I was running no rear swaybar due to very recent 8-bolt diff conversion, and the front swaybar links were stuffed and not tightened, with nolathane bushes, a couple of which were buggered.

I just fitted my Whiteline adjustable rear swaybar, on the highest setting (wouldn't want it any lower from what I can gather from shaking it lol), and got some new front swaybar links and bushes, did it up nice and tight. Tried to fit my K-mac front swaybar but it liked hitting s*#t (radiator hose) when the suspension was at full extension - which I wasn't too happy with.

Shocks are Monroe GT gas, don't look too new but feel pretty reasonable. The crappy offset meshies hit the front shocks, so I'm not keen on putting my Koni Red front shocks in this car. Might just put them in the Piazza anyway.

Next event is this Sunday the 20th if I can get a tow there! Can't wait to test out the "new" swaybars.

Put the electronic ignition setup in and now have no spark, because I'm an idiot and screwed the wiring. Got an awesome diagram from DJBrooksy tonight so as soon as the weather lets up and I have a free minute I'll fix her up!

Also, fitted the front lip:

Hey man, good to hear, if you have pics/videos definitely link me!

I was thinking of doing a 4ZE1 pano as a tow car, but I have too many projects as it is. How's the E1 for drifting? I bet it has the torque but how hard does it rev? I was thinking of building one of these, maybe even destroked with spool rods and turbo, but that's on the "later" list. Unfortunately for the time being I have to make do with next to no power - the smokey G180Z has a lot of zip for what it is, but is really bare minimum for drifting.

I'm in Adelaide, the event I went to was at the new Tailem Bend Motorsport Park, I want to go to Lala soon but wouldn't mind some more power first. There's a Stadium Drift event at Tailem on the 28th August, so I'm keen to get to that, will be exciting as I haven't tandemed yet and it's a new route. Here's the course setup for the 28th: http://vimeo.com/12968893 wish me luck! Hope I have enough power to slide most of it.

I'm interested in going double front swaybar, if you have any pics/instructions it'd be cool, I know roughly how to do it but any pointers on modifying the control arm links would be great, just so I get it right the first time. I've got Lovell springs, which are pretty heavy, but I did have some tough Commodore rears ready to go before I stumbled across this car, already fitted with Lovells. I've got a Whiteline adjustable rear swaybar now.

Nice work man, looks like you've got a bit more power than me, I can't powerslide like that yet! But I reckon practise working the handbrake and throwing the car into corners - I was crap at handbrake entrys til I watched my mate Benny do it, just go about as fast as you'd take the corner gripping it, maybe a few k's slower, and just flick it and very quickly jab the handbrake, up down, don't hold it, and only countersteer once the car gets real sideways. Ends up being mostly natural drift triggered by the handbrake. Long handbrakes are only to fix crap entry angles - the first corner at Tailem in my vids is such a pain haha, can't get a clean angle into it so have to do a long handbrake scando!

But yeah good to see another Gem out there, yours looks a similar colour to mine actually!

my E1 isnt stock.. its balanced bottom end, flat top pistons, match ported and polished head, big cam and i have quad throttle bodies running off EMS,..a set the hard limiter to 6800 which is where the cam ends anyway..I love the torque of it, it spun 331 nm on the dyno..it comes from nothing...

I'm off to QR this friday..looking forward to seeing how it goes..had fuel pump dramas last time.. only got 4 laps in..made an expensive night out

good to see more Aussie car drifters out there giving it to the nissans

Woody that's a bloody awesome pic. If you want a cheapo vid setup, just duct tape a camera/mobile phone somewhere in the car, an easy one's on the inside mirror, that's what I do. Gotta aim it right, and everything looks slower cause it's high up, but who cares! Easy way :) Then just put em on youtube.

But yeah love that pic, love your work, keep it up and put up lots of pics! Pity we're in different states or we could do mad tandems :)

I like to think of Gems as a Japanese/European hybrid.. since they mainly came from Isuzu and Opel. I just like proving to the Nissan boys that there are plenty of unsuspecting cars that handle as good/better than a Silvia/Skyline, and I like proving to the Hachi/KE boys that there are plentey of awesome oldschool Jap RWDs besides Toyotas. This might be sacrilege to some, but I'd sooner cut off an arm than call my Gems Holdens! I'm not a bogan!
