Ah! Interesting... Any hints as to where to look? This car's a wiring nightmare and has survived a substantial chunk of its life running 18V, so everything needs checking... But if you know where I'd look for the earth wires in that general vicinity it'd be awesome!

In before the rest...

He did great from what I could see from the sidelines. In the pro class again, kept up with everything else down the straight pretty well, and had just as much angle.

Just needs that little bit more power more than anything else, his technique is solid. You've improved soooo much since the first time driving it at Tailem last year!

Hey everyone, sorry about the delay! Slightly bad news, my phone crapped it, so no incar vids!!! :( there are a few out-of-car, but the girlfriend basically got hypothermia and stopped taking many videos early on, and missed most of my good runs after I got the feel for the track and fixed the miss...

I had an awesome time at Mallala, it's a really slippery track which is good and bad - caught me out like 200m out of the pits, when I decided to throw it around on the back straight and spun!! hahaha... But it makes my low power go a lot further! The car had some cut out issues turning left for the first few sessions. I found ANOTHER loose wire off of a fuse under the dash, which I yanked, and (coincidence or otherwise) it didn't miss after that. Seriously, my "loose exposed live wire" count is sitting at about twelve now. Surely must be running out! lol

Anyway, that was my only real spin, but I went hard, hit dirt a few times, had maaaad fun... Benny made me go in experienced and I'm SO glad I did. Had to bulls*#t at the sign-in shed hahaha - "Have you been out here before?" - "Uhh, yeeeah. Yes. Definitely yes." The newbie group were spinning EVERYWHERE, and entering corner one at like 60 (some of them)... There were lots of KE's out and even a Corona, I had heaps of fun doing tandems with them, even went harder than at least a few of them!

Into the first of the esses I'd usually clutch third to the right on the straight, link left, link back right and onto the brakes sideways into the corner. It's a hard corner to judge, and I kept going a smudge deep, coming back to second and having to lean on the gas looking for grip to stay on track, put a wheel off millions of times but never spun. The last two esses were easy to link onto the straight, although I think I'll try to work on my line to draw it out wider towards the tyres. It's hard because I always kill my speed running wide on the first right (worth it for the entry hahaha, not many others were holding big entries there) and it's hard to build/carry enough speed!

Turn one (the fast one) was always pretty much flat out, I'd lift a little to weight shift, and I always did scando's. I think I should work on bigger scando's, and possibly try no scando and just carry a smooth line with more speed towards corner two. Corner two was easy, but I think I was a bit wild and unrefined on it. The biggest thing I struggled with around here (besides the early misfire on lefts lol) was a massive lack of steering feedback on the slippery track. I've never had this issue at any other track, but one time I actually had a full steering-wheel turn in without even realising - I thought I was headed straight til it threw me off at the grass. Held it but only just! My current fronts are a bit tacky, so I'll just put the good ones on there and be done with it, but perhaps a little more caster would help (and practise at Mallala).

One of the most fun spots on the track was after turn two and the stands, where people generally aren't watching, around the pit exit area. At the top of third, somewhere around 100-110 maybe, I'd generally clutch third and throw the car left at the pit wall, basically at redline so no big wheelspin, but it'd get loose anyway, then link back right flat out, back left, then try to hold a looooong entry and back to second for the tight-ish right there. I'd run out of hands a lot, between handbrake trying to make the long sweeping right before it tightens, steering, and needing second.. but yeah, AWESOME!!!

Sadly, Benny's car spun a bearing in the first session, and Jarrod and Murphy smashed each other badddd... So not many epic tandems, although I did lots of two or three car runs with the other Rollas! I just need more power so I don't get left behind on the straight, it's annoying because it leaves me too far behind to tandem corner 1!

GOOD NEWS!!! Spoiler alert for my other thread.. I have lock spacers, cheap, and just fitted them with no dramas. I just need to grind down the secondary lock stoppers on the hub now, and I'll have massive lock! The car's still jacked, so it should get done in the next few days. I can't wait to try these babies out! Soon as I can verify them I'll start selling them for/from Garage 7.

Also, just waiting on confirmation for a tow, but I'm about to book in for Stadium Drift's first comp on May 14th. They've removed the L2 class which sucks, so I'm probably going to go street so I don't have to face Simon's 350+rwkw S14, or Davey's 170rwkw KE. Somehow I think I'd just annoy everyone if that happened... lol. But yeah, sucky thing is I'll probably end up against noobs and Commodores who think it's Summernats - nothing wrong with noobs but I want to get some serious battles on! And not be avoiding spins for dear life every two seconds hahaha. Oh, other good news is that on Monday I'll be ordering my new phone, which will take HD videos, and take over from my old one as "interior cam" :D

Thanks! And hey, we all have our off days, what happened with your crash?

The same evening prac I went to, two of my mates smashed each other up good, and another mate spun a bearing early on. Also, a rare "old 300ZX" tore its suspension to pieces (seriously, fffffcked)...

Here's the big crash, if you look on the vids underneath it you'll see another of his tyre hits, and then the "old 300ZX" tearing itself apart...
http://vimeo.com/22227940

I'm real lucky I haven't bent mine yet, but I know it'll happen sooner or later, whether by my own screw-up or from someone else taking me out. At Lala, I was following the red KE and had to hit skids HARD twice in the same run when he spun/half spun. I would have only missed by a metre or two. The second time I just overtook him, I was trying to be nice and not hold him up on the straight, since his car was faster, but after the second spin I didn't feel safe... But hey, fix yours up man, and get back out there! :D
