Mum's old TG, now my brissie runner!

Post by redzone (coxy) »

Hai guys, here's the TG SL i bought from my olds when they bought a toyota echo in 08, i'm the 4th owner, dad bought it from the second owners (a church) in 1995, it was an auto but dad swapped to a 5 speed, also fitted air con, and it copped a 2 pack paintjob in the original silver in about 2001..

all i've done is lower it and fit some mazdaspeed MS01R wheels that are 15X7 +30 and would have been on an MX5 in japan.. i think they're what lenso copied the C5 from. i'm actually selling the wheels at the moment to buy a set of gunmetal centre'd sportmax 513's (watanabe copies) in a 15X7 +15. not much coin to swap over as these mazdaspeed wheels are highly sought after and pull upwards of $500 :) (they're made by rays)

this car is awesome for driving to brisbane and back on the weekends, gets 600km from 42 litres of unleaded... with the a/c on and doing the speed limit... also has a cool little stero and a crack free dash & well kept interior. it has always been garaged (well until i got it but i do when i can :(
)
and yes i have the turbo setup from the yellow coupe/gold sedan sitting here which YES will make its way onto this car once the green coupe is on the road..

so yep there you have it 8)

cheers guys 8)

yeah the plan is to make a jap replica out of it, i have some genuine ZZR vents here and the rear bar is an import one, i'll be ditching the bump strips later and adding factory style "ZZ turbo" stickers. it's good having elky's ZZT nearby to take inspiration from :)

TE taillights with black surrounds instead of chrome, also there is a wiring mod to make the other taillight bulb come on :)

not a whole lot more than what i got for the MS01R's :D if anyone wants some xxr/sportmax wheels i'm thinking of bringing in more, i have a fair idea of what will and wont fit now too. HEAPS of inner clearance in front too of course..

so stoked.. needs 195's in the rear instead of the 205's though as it still scrubs slightly even after rolling the guards..

cheers for the comments guys! not gonna do anything speed related on this car til i've got the green coupe on the road, however i've realised i've nearly got a complete piazza setup i can throw in (including the all important air con bits), got a wolf 2d cheap from a mate a while back and a lancer evo 4 TD05HR turbo sitting around that no-one wanted (similar spool and power potential to a GT2860RS) so i'm really only a steampipe manifold, intercooler and pipiing away from having everything to do it that way. i'll save the carby turbo setup for an early model sedan down the track... might build a replica of my first car but with boost 8)

old sedan was a 75 TX that mum n dad bought in 1978, when i was 1 yr old, had been repainted black with a yellow and orange strip along the bottom of the doors and front guard, had metal flared guards and deep dish asshole mags (ie 6 slot jellybeans), lowered with sports exhaust and weber carby.. i owned it from 1995 when mum got this car to replace it and i got my licence..
