TD Coupe Twin Cam Rally Car

Post by Gem WRC »

Hey Guys
This Gem was my first car. A 1984 TG SL Sedan, very straight with not a drop of rust.
Stripped it bare including the paint & started from scratch.
Made & fitted the rollcage. All seam welded & strengthening
in the usual Gemini areas.

I have made everything so far on the car. As a lot of custom bits are
needed in the build.

The old Hilux rear end conversion
- 4.8:1 ratio CWP
- KAAZ LSD 1.5 way centre
- Custom made tailshaft (VK Commodore
shortened & lengthened with Hilux yoke on
the end)
- Fabricated centre bearing holder & mount
for the 'ladder arm' to support the diff housing.
- 40mm fabricated rose jointed panhard rod.

The whole diff setup including the disks & calipers
came in 5.8Kg less that the standard gemini rear end!

Hydraulic concentric clutch slave cylinder setup. Had to go with a hydraulic clutch to work with the floor mount pedal box. Works a treat.
