hey guys. Its been almost 7 months of doin nothin on the deo. Ive just finished my diploma in film and tv, so now i have some free time while im lookin for work..
Well the latest update is myself and the old man drove to sydney (liverpool) from adelaide to pick up a tub we bought yes thats right.. a 27 hour drive there and back god it was a long drive haha. but worth it. we picked up a single cab tub for 200 bucks! and a couple hundred in gas getting there. where he said it would cost around 700 to freight it seeing its so awkward to send it. plus they get damaged.
Took us 13 hours to get to liverpool from adelaide. We put it on the trailer and we were both feeling good so we drove 2 hours towards home and stopped at Goulburn.
It has a bit of rust where water was sitting in it, but nothing we cant fix. The sides are really straight. Our last one had huge dents from a forklift loading stuff in the back, and would have been a pain to fix.
Here it is
We got it sitting on a hospital bed we got! its great! you can wheel it around and lift it up and down
Heres the rust
But no fear! we were prepared with cutouts from the last tub
And it pissed down on the way home. that much when a road train went past, the windscreen was just going white with water damn you people up there... drought city down here
In our times of bordom, we wrote down EVERYTHING that can be done to this project. and some of the stuff agreed on... well... just you wait :p
The TO DO within the next couple months:
Mount power steering pump
Complete all the brackets on the engine
Crome the brackets and bits n pieces
Fan belts sorted
Cut extractor flanges and angle them in
Complete engine mounts and bolt engine in
make the exhaust
mount rear shocks

Engineer is coming friday. He will write down everything that has to be engineered, give any advice about the build and then write up a report that can be handed into regency.
From a guess, he believes the deo will need a dyno, brake fade test, lane change test and emissions test to be approved. No rigidity test due to the full chassis.
Its all coming along! once this is done we can get some major stuff done like diff and tailshaft cut.

not really atm. but we had the visit from the engineer, he made the report of all the modifications being made to the ute, and sent it to regency for approval. A few days ago we received a letter from Motor Vehicles saying they approve the modifications WOO. so now once we finish a little project in the way (Triumph Dolomite Sprint) we can work on the deo

nah its a legal build. and plus i dont really like the look of dropped utes.
Update anyway:
Total hassles with the engineer getting these wheels and diff sorted.
But for now we are hopefully going ahead with a VY crewman diff, due to we need a load rated diff to get through the pits.
And we have orded some Summit Racing Star 15x7 and 15x10 wheels for it. So its going to have 12" of rubber on the back
And we got our shipment from the states:
a aluminum radiator
billet trans cooler
billet surge tank
twin thermos
more to come soon
