My FJ20 Datsun 1600 Race Car

Post by paddles »

Here's my Datsun 1600 circuit car. I've had it for a couple of years and just got it going again in time for the supercar support races up here at Hidden Valley.

It has a worked n/a Nissan FJ20 running off twin webers, rb20 gearbox, Nissan Navara 4.9 diff. Pretty self explanatory really :D

It's only been out to one race meeting, the supercars, since the engine rebuild and new paint scheme so I don't have many action shots of the dear old girl just yet.

Thanks guys!

Fish, front brakes are rx7 s4/5 4 piston calipers, disc is roughly 250mm diameter. Only juuuust fits under 14's. Rear is a R31 Skyline single piston set up.
Pedal feel hasn't been as good since the last time I drove it before the rebuild, and the rears were seized at the supercars, so I have a bit of work to do there before next meet.

We had the option to convert to injection a while back, but we stuck with the webers. They have more character, and god dammit the FJ sounds sexual down the straight running off webers. Last weekend was the first time I had heard the engine from outside the car when my dad took it for a few laps.

Quad throttles would be very nice, but I'm a uni student so they will have to wait until I stop playing with the rest of the car so I can accumulate a bit of money. But don't worry, they'll be coming one day :D

Good call Dave they are a nice caliper. Fairly light compared to the volvo 4 spots we have on the other race car, the mk1 Escort.
You missed out big time on the supercars, it was an excellent meeting!

12 seconds of footage of the Datto tearing down the main straight at Hidden Valley at a recent practice day. Turn that sound up!!!
Bear in mind it hasn't been tuned yet and I wasn't getting full throttle :D
