1972 Austin Kimberly

Post by BLK-TDPANO »

Mostly postings this up here hoping that someone can help getting information about these cars! Had a bit of a look online and haven't had to much luck finding to much information out at all about the specific model, but there seems to be a good amount about the 1800's.

Purchased this yesterday afternoon.
Needs a bit of mechanical work (brakes, gearbox, suspension) but body wise it's pretty neat.
99% rust free.

Runs a 2.2 east to west six cylinder.
Came out with twin SU carbies but currently running a single.
Interiors been redone at some point of its life.

If anyone has any info on hydrolastic suspension and can point me in the rig direction of finding more info out, that'd be great.

Hello,

Not my sort of Car, but I heard they went into an electrostatic dip, which is why rust is rare. The 1800 also had a locally made Ute version. There is a book you might like, Journeys with Gelignite Jack. It is about 2 BMC cars on a test. Well worth a read about the good old days before we were PC and made everything fun illegal.

I also read this. They did 8 different types of dips to help prevent rust.
It's definitely different to any sort of car I have ever owned. First FWD and first 6 iv ever owned.
Will definitely look into finding the book.
Cheers.
