Our house reno... (pic heavy)
Wont hurt to have another house reno thread will it? We started this build in February and still has a way to go. The original house was built as a miner's shack somewhere in the very early 1900s. A good solid construction from old hardwood, preformed concrete piers, timber boards and iron roof. It only had 3 rooms, kitchen, bathroom, and living/sleeping room. In the 80s the owners extended the rear of the shack, turning the original part to bedrooms, with a big lounge, kitchen, bathroom and laundry. The addition had a skillion roof (which I hated) and was recladded in Weathertex boards and new iron. Here is the old shack after we had owned it for a few years and tidied it up. This is how she looked just before the building started.

Other bedrooms...
Demolishing rear deck...
Truss delivery...
Starting rear extension...
The guy in the blue shirt doing nothing and has a head like a penis was the guy that owned the building company. He ripped us off thousands by leaving things out of the contract that we discussed before signing. Ended up we had to pay him and for all the other things left out. The guys that worked for him however were great, couldn't fault them.

f*#k me dead dude, mammoth effort well done! Must be rapt that theres light at the end of the tunnel now.
In response to your question in my thread [ie, acrylic splashback] DOOO ITTT. Easy as to keep clean, looks farking killer. Can understand your concerns about it possibly being too red etc, but i reckon it should tie it in with your lounge/feature wall pretty well. If your concerned about how itll look, buy yourself a roll of contact paper in the colour you want and just stick it on the wall temporarily to give yourself an idea of what itd look like.

Thanks for the positive comments guys. Starting to oil the rear deck today. Tip: If you are going to pressure wash a horisontal surface that you have to stand on and plan on wearing thongs while doing so, refrain from running over your toes with said pressure washer. That f*cker will leave you with a sore red foot that stings for about an hour afterwards...
We are planning to put in glass splashbacks in the kitchen, probably in silver. Gemcoupe, what was the name of the product you used??

Re: Our house reno... (pic heavy)
Update:
House is painted now inside and out, with only a small part of a hallway and the inside of the garage left to paint. Ended up with the red splash back after all. The people left us some glass colour samples and the red was a winner by a long shot...
Before:
After:
Another red wall went into the entrance way as a bit of a feature...
Front yard landscaped leveled and re-turfed. Front door is still in primer but will also be red in the not too distant future. Outside colours all just happen to be from the Colorbond range, as they are neutral and easy to match. Nice new letterbox and hardwood surround finishes it all off...
