CAP51Z - LWB Sierra with Gemi Diesel & Rodeo Box

Post by CAP51Z »

as requested, this is copied from Outers.

when i got it: Nov 2003

SPOA
Hilux Diffs 5.29s
Hilux J ARM STEERING
1.8 Isuzu Diesel & 5 spd box
3" BOX section body lift
Recently resprayed & RETRIMMED!! Yes it had NEW carpet
New Soft Top Canopy
ARB Winch Bar
31" Super Grippers on splits
RS 9000s in the front, Standard zook shocks in the rear
Stainless Steel Snorkel
All lenses replaced, so their pretty
a very very bad vibration when driving, caused by a couple of mis-alignments

this was all "fully engineered", i have the report. Still LMAO @ it.

2.5 years later:

REMOVED MAJORITY OF THE CARPET

SPOA (new rear springs minus load bearer)
Hilux front diff given Full Reco
Bundy Rear diff fitted & reco
Rear Wrap Bar
Isuzu 1.8 Diesel & 5 spd box....both still work....
Toyota (mostly) Crossover Power Steering
36x12.5 ET2s on Flipped 15"x8" Rims
Calmini 6.5:1
Diffs are 5.29s, each with ARB lockers
2" Snake Body lift
Tail lights moved into Tail gate
Remote Central Locking & Alarm
RS 9000 Shocks all round
Stainless Steel Snorkel
Basic Rock Sliders
8" Bushwacker Flares, extended with Bunnings all purpose garden edging
+ a bunch of little odds & ends to make it more practical

I have also made a board up that sits in the rear between everything that acts as a frame, so a double Air Bed fits snugly when the seats are forward. Saves camping in the wet. Quite comfy actually.

Done since post:

Xfer Ring to reinforce Xfer & Mounts
New Front Tube Bar
Rims Flipped 2" & Powder-Coated
Rhino Linings spray on Ute liner all thru interior
Gemini box replaced with Rodeo box
Tacho Installed

Current Developments:

< Nothing >

To do list:

2.) Larger PS Resevoir

3.) New Rear Tube Bar

4.) Changing Diffs to 4.55s

5.) Rear Discs for the Bundy Diff

6.) Play around with Front leafs

7.) Diff Guards

8.) Turbo

9.) Full Roll Cage. Undecided on Internal or Exo.

"Hello, I'm CAP51Z. I was only born with 1/8th of my brain and have lost 1/2 of that over the years."

Seriously dude, you're either insane or stupid...

And I love it!

:D

This is nothing too crazy, their is a huge offroad scene out their. My first car was an XE falcon, the whole speed thing never grabbed me, then i bought a sierra, & have been wheeling since.

Thats probably why :D

Do you find the sierra has a tendancy to go end-over-end because of the weight of the diesel?

not at all. Its a LWB, & with the extra width of the toyota axles & rim offset its quite stable. All the extra weight down low also helping with the COG.

Love the pics. It would be good for off road, first gear would be an absolute creeper  . I can guess why you wanna change the diff  , it probably has a top speed of around 60km/h

lol, yeah. First low is great, but i want it to be abit faster on the road. Currently, it does 100kph @ 4200 rpm. I want this to be around 3200 rpm, so im going to change the diff ratios then compensate it with a turbo.
