My kinda-project orange TD wagon

Post by wagswill »

I rescued this little beauty from under a rotting car cover in the adelaide hills. drove it as it was for a while, then decided the rust on the roof was going too far, so thought i'd respray the roof.
that turned into the saga you see in the pictures to follow.

this is the wagon i'm fixing up a bit as a daily driver.

i plan to restore my green granny TD wagon to original with a few subtle mods

and down the line i will shop for a coupe to race. still got all the bits for a coupe, from interior to bumpers etc

when i bought it:

yeah i know :( but i only have two and they're in my green one. actually if i got more square ones i'd probably keep them as spares for the green one!

might get some halogens (round) for the orange one though, the stockies are dim as. i run them on high permanent high beam...

so i converted an old dizzy (actually 3 old dizzys) to electronic using RB internals, and went to put it into the orange beast.

took the dizzy cap off, and guess what.... it already had the conversion done!!!

which means i haven't removed the dizzy cap since i bought the car about 3 (maybe 4) years ago!

how slack am I!?

i always thought it went pretty well for a stocky lol. guess i know why now.

Hey man, got to your threads from your signature, you have two NICE wagons!! Way nicer than pano's anyway IMO. That's funny about the dizzy! If you still have a surplus electronic ignition dizzy PM me a price ;)

I can't believe I've never seen your wagons (that I can remember anyway, maybe back in the day on Scotty's JGSA cruises), you coming to the cruise on Sunday the 31st? I think Ethan's organising it on JGSA. That orange wagon will look insane when the front apron's painted, with a grille and possibly slightly lower at the back.

I heard the +2" wheel rule got scrapped in SA and you can now go whatever size given the same rolling diameter (lower profile tyres).. But if it is true, the cops sure don't know it. If you get s*#t about the wheels maybe call Vehicle Standards on 1300 882 248.

Sounds like you know what you're doing, but if you want an extra pair of hands with the engines sometime PM me, I'd pretty much come help out for petrol money, I just want to see the wagons ;) hahaha.

yeah Cheers Eli, i love them both!

This orange one has the front apron all finished and the grille back in now. The green one is off the road for resto now... The orange one is my daily dunger. I'm away in India at the moment and only get back on the 30th so might miss this cruise but keen for future ones. The orange gemmy gets driven by my partner to work in cleland a bit so you might see her in the hills... yeah man come round and see them whenever, when i get back i'll drop you a message and organise a garage workshop day :)

Not too sure about the 2" rule, i think it still applies, i rang regency a while ago (guess it could have changed since) and they said it was still the 2" rule...
