Pattymac's 2TG TA22

Post by PattyMac »

Hey guys! I'm sad to say I've left the Gemini game and moved on to the yota crowd. Plans at the moment are to give it a respray in Devil Yellow, fender mirrors, chrome bars, coilovers, twin drift pipes, a hangring, boot spoiler, bucket seats and some new audio gear. Also a new rear swaybar as I happened to snap mine :? Don't have a f*#cking clue how I pulled it off though :?: Let me know what you guys think!

I love TA22s, I wanted one before I got my first Gemini.. but I must admit, I'm glad I got the Gemini, and would take Isuzu over Toyota anyway now. Nevertheless, I still think TA22s are extremely sexy cars.

My thoughts:
- I don't like the painted bumpers, I'd go back to the polished steel look
- Also not a massive fan of the tinted taillights, originals are so cool
- Needs a little more low and some negative camber up front
- Drift pipe(s) are a win when done well
- Love the interior, but I hate the pedals.. again I like originals. Also not sold on the yellow stripe on the door trims.
- Love the twincam, how do those carbs sound!?
- Neeeeeds a front lip, madhouse or the type KE's always have :D

Cheers for the comments guys! Drewza86-Theyre getting increasingly hard to find, especially twincams, but aren't that expensive :)

Eli-Yeah I've still got a lot of work to do. There's a few mods the previous owner had done I'm not too happy with (painted bars, twin cannons etc.) and plan to smooth them out. Also forgot to mention I'm looking to get some Hayashi Street replicas (Rota Shakotans) once paint is done.

Keep on truckin 8)

I dont mind these, strange considering i hate Toyotas

As Eli said, except:

Bin/Sell the 2TG as they are shithouse engines [dont listen to the Toyota fanboys about how they can make x amount of power N/A - they cant hold a candle to an Isuzu DOHC]. Replace the 2TG with 1GGTE, possibly the worlds most under-rated engine. Can be picked up cheap [like, really really cheap], almost a bolt in swap and sound the sex.

Heres one my mate prepared a few years earlier.

Had a 1GGTE converted to single turbo with a GT2876RS, made 200rwkw from memory

BTW, i was looking through the other cars section trying to find where i posted pics of my mates sillycar up. Look what i found...

There is the australian 'GT' and the real GT.

Aus ones were just the early TA models with fancy badges. The real one came factory fitted with the 2TG.

I like this very much overall Mac, should be a nice car once it's all done.

However, there is one tiny thing in your first post that intrigues me...
What is a "hangring", and what purpose does it serve?
TD Sedan "Derrick/Dez"
TX Coupe "Zero": Longterm Zokusha/Drift Build.
TE Diesel Sedan: Turbo Sandpiper II Mockup (In Progress)
TE Sedan "Bella": Basic Battle Bitch
Hilux: Daily

TL;DR: STOP OFFERING ME GEMINIS!!!

*drooool* haha that's sexy as hell. Hopefully mine will end up of the same quality :)

Ethan- I'm not sure if I used the right wording there and I'm sure you will correct me. I'm talking about the subway rings they hand off the back end???

GeminiCoupe- Any more details on the 1GGTE..? You have me intrigued haha
