End of day.. Im easy on whatever is decided...

The main thing is:

Camping: powered and unpowered sites , enough room to congregate in one corner and DECENT amenities.
Entertainment: karts, bowling, golf, hillclimb and shops
cruise route: hills and turns , odd long straight and a GOOD Lunch stop.
Distance: ~5 hour travel time for northerners/southerners inbetween doesnt matter.

I also noticed some of the inland camping places seem to allow fires to some extent , so its obviously cold there at night.. No overheating issues right?????

timber mill missing , a town like oberon would be ideal , if there is something similar close to water and the range , we may have a winner

I was thinking perhaps Lake Lyell Recreation Area. No website yet but powered sites are $25, has ammenities, camp fires allowed, right on the water.

Only issues are boom gate (card for access) and 10-15 mins to town.

somewhat keen for this, but in saying that, there really is NOTHING else to do in regards to actual fun stuff, like go karts, trampolines, twelvies uno, all the fun stuff young hooligans like.

i am keen for up north near where we were but not where we were

My input, as said the drive from Adelaide is a long one no matter where it is. Only way that changes is if it the weekend rotates to Vic one year or something of that nature, and we're all pretty certain that won't ever happen eh?
Trying to make it easier on us is appreciated, but whether it's 14 hours or 17 hours, it's at least a full days worth of driving, sleeping, breakdowns, running out of fuel, doing skids, killing prostitutes, all that normal s*#t.

One thing I will say, is that last year and this one, only the regular Ozgeminites from SA have been seriously aware of the event and therefore have made plans. Even Ant only knew about it a month before last year, and that was only due to me mentioning it in passing to him one night. If I can get the ball rolling, we may have more guys from down this way making the trek due to FB etc, no guarantees though.

I'm personally happy for inland, don't go near the water much myself but it's nice having the option, more interested in somewhere that's not too expensive, good views/roads for the cruise, somewhere to cut sick on a track on one of the days, near enough to a town for wasting money, and space for everyone.
With that said, I like the look of Lake Lyell.

Also, minor tangent, but has anyone noticed that next year will be the Gem's 40th anniversary?

All I got from that was something about slaying prostitutes.

Am keen.

I spoke with Roddy the other day and he didn't seem phased. I think he would like to go back kiama way but said somewhere closer to the hill climb would be better.

The Lake one would be good however Glen brings a good point. Go karts are excellent lol.
I'm thinking that if we went to the lake and used mt panorama as the track I don't know if as many people would come. It's more than likely a competitive round which means for people who don't have a full l2s cams license might not be able to run.
The lads at Ringwood seemed very happy and fairly relaxed with us there plus it's our own event.
More Gemini vs Gemini than Gemini vs decked out hill climb rig.
I'll have to talk to bill about this and Firstly see if we can even have the event there again.

Just thoughts.

Ethan, didn't Ant say one year Geminis the other datsuns?
He'd be keen for next year surely.
Send him a message get him in this thread to :)

I don't think we'd be able to enter the Bathurst event. The caliber of cars there is quite high and the entry fee is far from cheap. Also, driving that track at speed with road suspension/ tyres and cement walls everywhere is only going end in disaster.

I will make a suggestion though.

Maybe next nationals, we could have it slightly North (closer to QL) which means more of a drive for everybody South of Sydney, but then do the opposite and maybe have the Nationals near Vic (could use Bryant park hillclimb track) so that way over the next 2 years, everyone should have an even amount of driving time.
