Rare problem - experience may help others
About 2 months ago my son came round in his coupe and when it pulled into the driveway I noted that it was running on three cylinders at idle. Asked him how long it had been like that and received the expected answer of “like what?”. It was only missing a cylinder on idle and was otherwise running b...

You would b...

My Tailgate that hates me
I have had an on going battle with my wagon tail gate lock either jamming or not closing properly. I have adjusted the hinges and position of the latch point to no avail. When it started sticking again on Sunday a thought maybe smoothing rough edges on the lock arms with a file might help. Started f...

Re: Side Draft Carburettors for a Geminin
Misalignment of the throttle plates can also stop the throttle fully closing and progression hole being partly exposed – 1 mm loss of plate closure can be the difference between smooth and rough idle. To check alignment of plates hold up to light and look through the air cleaner end (chokes removed)...

Re: Side Draft Carburettors for a Geminin
Buying Other People’s Problems If you buy a side draft carburettor off ebay or gum tree or enthusiasts website in 9 cases out of 10 the carby will have a problem that will prevent it from running out of the box. In my case that statistic is 17 out of 17 as I have never managed to get one fit to use...

Twin cam Question
Valve clearance, what is the spec for a G200W? Read the engine thread for twin cam and it has every conceivable measurement except valve clearance for inlet and exhaust. I have my inlets in and have 3 to 4 thou on the inlets. I am guessing that is too tight. If so, can anyone advise on a source for ...

The rear wheel arches are two piece. I know because when I replaced a rear quarter panel i split the arch - its the easiest way.

Re: thrust bearing?
Yes it is possible to fit backwards and no it it won't work (but it will make a terrible noise) My kids are the kings and queen of destroying thrust bearings because they all drive with their left foot resting lightly on the clutch pedal. What they are doing is keeping the thrust bearing in contact ...

At least while you are waiting on the side of the road for a towey, you can sit smugly knowing you have clarity on the dicky coil issue.

Re: Coil not giving spark - voltage query
You should get voltage on the negative side if the points are open, but not if they are closed. Check the continuity of the wire to the dissy.
You should only get 12 V when cranking the engine other wise about 9V via ballast resister.
