Rear swaybar floor mount cracked

After years of running the Gem far too low, and with heavier swaybars, the floorpan where the rear swaybar mounts to now has a split 270 degress around. Pretty damn bad, take the rear seat out and I can see through the floor  The thing is the two mounting plates welded to the floor from facto...

Delco Drama

Hello all, Anyone able to tell me what sensors are needed/used with the Delco 808 when starting? G180W Gem has sat for 6 weeks now wont fire up, simply winds over without even a cough or splutter..... has spark and fuel pressure at injector rail and timings spot on. I have replaced the O 2 and the C...

The backing plate off my G200W has a different shaped centre "arch" to yours pictured Pete... As Eli said it has a triangular shaped centre.... I never took note of what shaped backing plate the G180W had on it, though the bellhousing that was on the motor had its bolt holes elongated to f...

The timing chain tensioners are hydraulic, theres 2 of em....one is below the dizzy. Look for a triangular shaped plate, undo three screws and tensioner slides out. I can take pics of mine, its out of the motor atm if you need/want photos. Was the chain guide that sits between the two cams put back ...

Put a large flat blade screwdriver in through the starter hole on backing plate and in through the flywheel to lock the motor from turning over....

Use a piece of timber across the face of the new lip seal to have it fit straight....use rubber grease on the seal lip too!

EKW (wreckers) eBay'd a similar import for opening bid ~$1,950. No bids. Not sure if it had the orig ECU, but otherwise it was complete. Last year(?), someone bought the same but G200W and only an old (trimpot type?) ECU, running etc for about $200-$400. My last was a G200W with box & 1999 EMS ...

G180W Vacuum Lines

Can anyone confirm where the vacuum lines run for the fuel reg and dizzy.

At the moment I have them both running through a T piece off the front of the plenum but am experiencing some fuel supply issues under load so was thinking maybe I have set it up wrong.

Cheers!

Late reply but....

The second ball bearing goes under the small metal rod that you should have pulled out from under a brass plug beside the acc. plunger set up. That brass plug is the one that sits flush with carby and is removable even with the carby assembled...

Hope that helps

Cheers

Thats normal for most Gems....my old G200 would sit between 3000-3500rpm on the highway at 100-110kms

Have you tried adjusting the clutch cable?

Have a search on here for "VL pistons"....from memory, when used on 161 rods they end up 3mm below the deck height but not sure with what crank though..

Search should answer a few questions for ya,there should be a few topics on the VL pistons
