No need to take the wheel and the pump cam off the camshaft or you'll have to mess with the cam adjuster and if you don't know what to do you will probably snap off the plastic screw end. Don't even take the rocker cover off. Just plumb up the hoses as they were on the original engine and everything...

It's not caused by the sender unit in the tank. There is a voltage regulator built into the fuel gauge in the dash that controls the voltage to the fuel and temp gauges. Over time these seem to all fail. No one has found a fix as yet that I know of. Maybe dangerous_dave might take this challenge on ...

Nick, give Brendan a call at Motor Improvements in Brighton Rd, St Kilda (03) 9534 8007. He can regrind your existing cam, or one you pick up from another 4Z series engine, with a suitable turbo profile for about $75ish. That keeps the rice down and lets you experiment without spending a fortune on ...

Maybe you could use the info you have gathered to make a ready reckoner for others to calculate what rim/tyre they should be running. So many people were talking about how their wheels fit and 'only' touch at full extension etc. Some people didn't seem to understand the need for no less than 10mm cl...

If it's loud and getting louder and it sounds more like the op of the block (you did say it sounded like it was in the head) then I'm betting it's probably a piston with a dirty big crack through it. If you have not mashed the piston crown into the head then you should just park it and rip the head ...

Follow Crumz advice and have a pro check it out before jumping the gun. It could be something as simple as a loose valve seat insert of a bent valve, both of which can be fixed for under $100. You have an engine with a refreshed bottom end so why throw it out? Have you been getting right up the engi...

Yep, have to agree elky. It definately isn't a genuine TD tacho. Just another fact to consider also. The TX and TC Gemini was not optioned with a tacho. Only the TD was out of the early body style Geminis. There might have been a tacho option for the PF50 Japanese Gemini but I don't have any data on...

Not always the case. Some like the Gemini diesel and a lot of other cars and small trucks run off a signal from the alternator field winding.

It looks like it should be from the image showing the rear circuit board but I'm going to say no. The genuine tacho isn't a round face with a 'dished' outer rim, doesn't have that arrow looking symbol in the centre and it isn't a tacho with a redline starting at 4750 and a maximum RPM of 6000. I'd s...

It's the most common for in line fours. 1-3-4-2 is only one of two possibilities for 180° cranks. The Ford "Kent" pushrod engine is 1-2-4-3 but the twin cam "Lotus" variant is 1-3-4-2. All that neeeds to be done to make a Gemini engine into a 1-2-4-3 firing order is to make a cus...

If the car has two external mirrors fitted you could probably even paint the back window! The rule of obstructing a rear view only comes into force if it means there is only a single driver side mirror to see back with. All vehicles with restricted interior rear view must have exterior mirrors on bo...
