Re: Blow by after weber install and no acceleration

Blowing dip stick out? Can only think that somehow in the fitting process you have blocked off the engine breather on top of the rocker cover (or hose therefrom). No acceleration sounds like an accelerator pump issue. Easy to check, just peep down the throat and work the throttle and you should see ...

Re: Side Draft Carburettors for a Geminin

Tuning Tip - Brake Booster Hose I have been living with an OK but less than perfect idle for a couple of years. Replaced the hose to the brake booster and now have a perfect idle. Visually the hose looked fine but it was as hard as rock and obviously did not seal properly. Even cutting 20 mm off eac...

Re: 2.6Ltr 4Z-E1 Engine and questions relating

Not the hardest mod but still has it's issues. The 4Z series engines are shorter then G series engines and some of that reduced length is at the rear of the engine so if bolted to a gemini gearbox the engine fouls the firewall / airbox. The normal solution is to move the gearbox forward 20mm which w...

Re: 1978 Luv Lynx Sidedraft Dellorto 45

http://www.ozgemini.com/forums/tech/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=19014 I think the second picture on this page is is a 45 Dellorto on the same Lynx manifold. I made a return line splitter for this set up but eventually ditched it. Instead I fitted a Huco suction style electric pump in the engine bay and...

Re: Side Draft Carburettors for a Geminin

Some 40mm Dellorto DHLA carburettors are of a homogenous design with the idle/progression circuit fed fuel from the main circuit chamber instead of directly from the float chamber as in open/universal tuning models (DHLA40, 40E 40C). These are referred to as “emission” models but that is probably in...

Re: Side Draft Carburettors for a Geminin

Tuning of Emission Control Dellorto 40's I will do a full write up soon but a quick word of advice in the interim. Do not use any of the tuning guidance above for universal tuning version of emission side drafts (DHLA40F,G, H etc,)that have independent idle/progression and main systems. Bigger idle...

Re: Some advice re. TWIN sidedraft webers on stock G161???

The selection of DCOE body size is almost irrelevant. The main thing is to select the choke/venturi size. Then pick a body to suit. DCOE 45 chokes are available down to 28mm and DCOE 40 chokes can go down to 24mm though 26mm is more commonly available. On the upper end you can get up to 36mm chokes ...

Re: G200 Question

I think there are some slight differences between the G161Z carbie and the Nikki fitted to the G180Z and G200Z. Recall there is a thread somewhere on here about it. Ran my G200Z with a ordinary G161 carbie for a while and it did not seem to worry it. However, switched to a Weber 32/36 so do not l kn...

Re: Carby woes...

Fuel can't be sucked out as it drops in from the top , and anyway the bowl is vented. I dragged up a diagram on a Nikki to refresh my memory as I have not rebuilt one of these in years (if a Nikki plays up I install a Weber 32/36). There is a gasket separating the allow bowl segment from the cast ir...

Re: Carby woes...

No to needle and seat because they sit at the top of the bowl. If it was needle and seat you would have a flooding issue on idle and the bowl overflows.

Tossed on bowl emptying into the engine? leaking out the front glass and over the manifold i could understand

Re: TX Voltage Regulator - Charge Light - Instrument Cluster

There are two round plugs that plug into the instrument cluster. Over time (e.g. the 41 years since the TX came out) the brass prongs and corresponding bits on the plug get corroded. Because the stuff in a dash runs on really low amperage it does not take much corrosion to mess things up. Clean with...

MOGG Alert

Hi Guys, A tip for anyone ordering Moog Problem Solver lower ball joints (K6273) on line from the USA, there has been a foul up at Federal Mogul and a whole batch of incorrect ball joints went out to multiple suppliers. Suggest you ask your on line supplier to check package contents before shipping ...

Re: Some advice re. TWIN sidedraft webers on stock G161???

Conventional wisdom would would lean against the idea. But you never know. The twin 45's will allow a lot of flow but if the head, cam, valves and exhaust system are constricted the full benefit will not be there. Also a lot depends on the chokes that are fitted to the Weber 45s. if they are as smal...

Carby Tuning Tip - Change your brake booster

Could not get a smooth idle on a side draft on the wagon.

Had the brake booster overhauled and the engine idles like a dream.

The booster worked OK but I noticed the idle was slightly worse stopped on a downhill slope (i.e. brake on hard).
