Front shock clearance

Post by flyingbrick »

So what are people doing to increase shock to wheel/ tire clearance?

It's a feature of the Gemini that when the wheel is jacked up off the ground it might hit the shock (depending on your offset). Most of the time it will clear the shock when the car is normally on the ground. Check this first.

Yeah that's exactly what mine does. It's not a problem but it's not normal either. I'm a wee bit worried that if I go to a larger body shock I may end up with serious issues or bent shock shafts the first time I jack it.

I think I will look at re mounting the shock about 15mm further inward to eliminate the problem.

Cheers!

Ps, I laughed at how you called it a feature LOL

I dont think it will bend the shock unless its got quite some travel before the shock stops the suspension swinging...

It wont bend from jacking it no way...

Well, considering how much it is discussed here, especially rubbish and misinformation, you'd think it was a feature! Seriously, there is a 99% chance you won't have any problems unless you are either running ultra short shocks which have very little droop or are jumping the car, and I've only ever seen someone jump their car on here once. It was impressive.

i.e. run hetero offsets and you'll be fine.
