Using 4ze1 dizzy for crank angle sensor Q's
Using 4ze1 dizzy for crank angle sensor Q's
I'm going to use a 4ZE1 dizzy in my piazza engine for a crank angle sensor to run a sequential injection and coil setup.
I had a look at the shutter wheel in the dizzy and it has 360 small holes and 4 larger slots for each cylinder tdc. The ecu will need a no#1 cylinder TDC referance. Therefore 1 larger slot will be needed. What have others done here?. Cut one of the slots bigger?. Fitted a different shutter wheel from another Dizzy, sr20 etc?.
Cheers.

That sounds like a fairly good idea. I thought I might make one of the 4 slots longer than the others. Apparently most aftermarket ECU's don't like using the 360 slots so your idea might be better.
What type of paint did you use?. I presume you just used the paint to fill the holes in?.

Re: Using 4ze1 dizzy for crank angle sensor Q's
Could some one please help me out with the easiest way to use the 4ze1 dizzy sensor to trigger my aftermarket ecu. I'm wiring up a megasquirt but I don't believe it will read it. I thought about making it into a 36-1 trigger but the slots are so small it wouldn't be easy and might cause me tuning difficulties if it's not exact.
Many thanks. If I come up with something in the mean time il post it up.

Yeah I reckon I could have got a diploma in the time I spent researching, building and wiring my Megasquirt. I'm happy with the end result though, although I may need to reroute a couple of wires to get a more accurate signal.

I ended up getting a 12-1 trigger disk from diyauto tune. I had Lo-resolution signal issues while cranking with the factory 4ze1 trigger disk.

Re: Using 4ze1 dizzy for crank angle sensor Q's
Interesting, mine is pretty hard starting and I think may be experiencing poor CAS input also. I'm only using the four pulse per dizzy rotation output currently. Is that what you were using too? Was it hard to fit the 12-1 trigger disk to the E1 dizzy and did it solve your issue?
Very interested! Cheers,
Eli

Yes it helped only get the odd cranking issue now caused from voltage drop.
