Searching thread titles.

Post by hender »

I'm not sure if its possible, not in the know-how much on forums and how they work lol, but a "Search thread titles" option in the search feature would make things a lot simpler and easier to find.

Why don't you search for it! Damn Noobs!

And I'm JUST KIDDING! There have been a few grumblings around here recently about how good (not) this search engine is.

As usual, noobs can offer the best suggestions for improvements (sites, businesses, nations, etc) but alas - being noobs - they have no authority.

The search function sorta has that kind of thing, but it also includes the text in the message..

Under search options it does have :

Search previous:
Search topic title and message text
Search message text only

Is that the kind of thing you were talking about? thats what i thought you were asking neway

I've just added another Subject to this thread (title?)

Hender - you're into my jargon - thread vs subject or title.
I recently caused confusion when I referred to "post" instead of "thread", though that was my bad.
I prefer "thread" as a new "Subject" can be added later in the thread.
And I assume Title is the original Subject name,

But jargon (Definitions) is something that should exist along with rules etc.

And if posters were more tech & info savvy, they would have better titles.
This forum is a shocker for that - no wonder things can't be found.

If the title was a better content indicator (with added "Subjects" as it evolves), I'm sure searching would be better.
And the "search title/subject only" could be enabled.

I think Gemi Coupe will be sorting out the above (based on his comments in "Ignition Timing") etc.

I saw it more as a problem needing attention - both old and new are having problems - items are being missed. Why?

As to Poida, I see you and others as being the one whinging about him.
No one seems to do the same when others make such comments.

Why didn't you pick on Paddles for being the first one to bitch about search?

I know! That Paddles is nothing but trouble. Must be that NT sun affecting his upper cranium.
If there are more people as thick as him up there, I think I'll be giving Tassie a miss.
