gemini increased steering angle
gemini increased steering angle
does any one know if there is any way to increase a geminis steering angle. or if there is another cars steering rack that could possably fit or modified to fit.
We run a MK2 escort "quick" rack in our rally car, the mount's
line up perfect, you just have to get an enginner to attach
the end of the gem rack to esky one, by which i mean the
thread that you screw the tie rod onto the rack it's self, then
you grab a replacement nolathane rack bush this will join
the coloum to the esky rack, and just like that your Gem
now has just 2 turn's lock to lock, bit heavy for every day
use, but gr8 for rally and drift!!
P.S you will need to buy your Quick rack kit seprately, you can
usully get them from any rally supply shop

you would think with the gemini race and rally series that woudl have somethign liek this for geminis by now.. along with alor more of the shelf stuff...
"No thank you, Turkish; I'm sweet enough."
Nah - the Gemini Rally Series does not allow you to change steering racks (in QLD & NSW at least), so there hasnt been any development done there...Gene FJ20DET wrote:

I doubt the rack will stop the steering cutting a few degrees more. If it does im sure you could dissasemble the rack and get it a bit more turn.
Id put it down to bump stops.
And they do that to stop the tyres rubbing/fouling body and suspension.
Try taking a bit off the bump stops amd keep an eye on your clearance.
Bob.

Yeah I think the wheels would rub on the control arms.
I was talking to the guys from VicDrift (I work with those nutters) and they extend their racks and run longer tie rod ends to get more lock.Have a lokk at it and think about the geometry.Any good at math?
Ask FieldEffect.He is an engineer.(nerd)

You cant do that. If you extend the rack and tie rod you will end up so pigeon toed 400hp wouldnt move it. Somethings got to be shorter if you make something else longer.
Altering steering arm lengths etc is asking for a whole world of bump steer.

on another note what if you slotted the top control arm so the balljoint could slide back towards the rear of the vehicle more thus inncreasing caster angle?
