G200 Question

Post by FNQGem »

Can anyone on here help me with a G200z engine number ID.
I'm having trouble sourcing parts and don't know the history of the engine. I scored it off a local fella who had it in a rodeo and I've since put it into my TG.
The engine number is 208990Q
Is this enough to research the year of manufacture and what it originally came out in?
I need a head gasket and some info on the carby electrical connector.
Cheers,
Paul.

Hi Paul,

I moved your topic into the noobs section so it's not in relation to the twincam stuff.

So G200Zs are out of a Holden KB Rodeo. I think you'll find 1981-1985 they were in them. You should be able to get away with using the standard Gemini connector. The jets are slightly bigger (correct me if I am wrong brains trust) than a standard G161z arrangement but that's about it. Head gaskets are relatively easy to come by just order one for a KB rodeo. I did some googling for you and found the below website. Has a fair few spare parts things (including a head gasket set)

Hope this helps.

I think there are some slight differences between the G161Z carbie and the Nikki fitted to the G180Z and G200Z. Recall there is a thread somewhere on here about it.

Ran my G200Z with a ordinary G161 carbie for a while and it did not seem to worry it. However, switched to a Weber 32/36 so do not l know if the leaner mix would cause harm long term.
