1978 Luv Lynx Sidedraft Dellorto 45

Post by 1978luv »

Need help figuring this out. I have read but when you just don't have the experience, it's not easy. I have a 1978 Chevy Luv with a rebuilt G series engine. G200 block, g180 head, .30 over, balanced, delta cam, dual springs with titanium retainers, header and a 5 speed transmission. I took this apart, I have done a lot of reading and here is where I am. I need help with plumbing the lynx intake manifold. If someone has a similar set up, it would be very helpful to see pictures of this. I'm not a mechanic, just an enthusiast.

Also, what are you guys using as a "y splitter" for the gas lines? Main and return lines?

Any help with this would be appreciated.

thank

I think the second picture on this page is is a 45 Dellorto on the same Lynx manifold.

I made a return line splitter for this set up but eventually ditched it. Instead I fitted a Huco suction style electric pump in the engine bay and did away with the return line (mail order from eurocarb). The stock pump could not deliver at the pressure needed.

I found also that a 45 Dellorto running as a single is sensitive to idle circuit air jetting, which is handled by the selection of the idle jet holder. This is against the conventional wisdom of Dellorto tuning that you experiment with idle jet sizes first. For a single carby application get the idle jet holder correct first - starting with a leaner one.

Also suggest 225 Needle jet and 50 pump jets. For 34 to 36 chokes suggest you try a Idle jets 55-58 and main jets 155 - 160 as a start point. Auxilliary venturi should be a .1.

Of course, you run different fuel to the semi distilled cats wee we call standard petrol here.

There’s a few more tobytj pictures of the carby setup in his gallery about the car build here http://www.ozgemini.com/forums/non-tech ... 3&p=293268 . :)
