Hello guys I’ve been off of here for a very long time but im glad I’m back. I haven’t done anything to the luv or the 4zd1 since last time I was asking questions but I’m ready to start working on this project. I need to put money into this project instead of beer lol.

Any how I did read the comments up above and I’ll be talking to a shop about doing the rebuild on the motor. I’ll post updates as soon as I can.

So I went to a local shop last week and the guy wanted 3500 usd to build the lower end of my 4zd1. Do you guys think that’s reasonable? Everything inside of the block was going to be new.

Depends on what is being done. For a stock or relatively stock rebuild that’s a hell of a lot of coin

Actually come to think of it it’s on the very high side even for a forged setup

My d1 block costs (all in aud so take 35% off for usd equivalent)

Custom forged pistons (to my exact specs) - $1250 with heavier duty gudgeon pins
Rods - $650
Bearings - $250 (two sets of bearings for blueprinting)
Crank work - $200
Machine work (deck, cylinder bore, tunnel bore) - $250
Acid dip and clean block - $100
Balancing $250
Prep for custom copper composite gaskets setup - $200
Assembly and blueprinting - $1150

Total: $4300 aud including sales tax

So circa $2,795 usd - that’s a pretty stout setup though and not anywhere near stock

hope this helps

Good luck

Mick
