Straight swap apart from Torque tube mount at front near tailshaft. unbolt it and direct swap it with the one on the 8 bolt TT. Brake line will connect straight up. For swaybar you'll need to drill 4 holes ( you'll see the flat parts of the floorpan where the swaybar mounts line up ) and put a plate in under the rear seat where the bolts will go through the floorpan..

Brake lines may or may not be a straight swap. They are a mixture of imperial and metric brake tube fittings. The mix varies from model to model.
You may need to salvage the hose and brake lines from the TX rear end.
Fortunately the fitting to the wheel cylinders is imperial on all petrol geminis. (On diesels they are metric)

Just out of curiosity what is wrong with the pre ADR diff is it that it's just a borgwarner or is it something else?

They do not have an attachment for a rear stabilizer and that is the only reason I swapped out my TX and TC BW rear ends.

Plus it's just a s%*tty diff in the coupe I have.
Does skid but occasionally pinches the left rear brake when I stand on the brakes the rear grabs.
Apparently this is a normal thing for these diff hence the want to ditch

Heh, I have a Salisbury that likes seizing a brake when left sitting -_-
Yeah the other lads are on it. Brake line thread is different somewhere, pretty sure there's a way to do it too much stuffing around but it's been ages since I did it. I think you keep the T-piece with the diff.
As Lok said, keep the torque tube with the car as the xmember bolts are a different width apart. Besides that, for some bedtime reading check out my Diff Bible in the tech article section (I think it's still in submissions else drivetrain).
For what it's worth, I ran a TX diff in the carrot drift Gem because I wanted a ridiculous handbrake. Unfortunately this also resulted in ridiculous brake balance and the car liked to do spontaneous 180's during emergency stops, so I had to line lock the rear lines (too lazy to swap back to Salisbury diff) and ran fronts only... and handbrake simultaneously when stopping in a hurry.

I took the coupe to a skid pan day ages back and I couldn't see the benefit of it to be honest. The handbrake lever doesn't go as high? Which I hate.
So anyway you've mentioned in the t piece for the diff?

My overall plan is >
TX gaybox
TX Torquetube
TE Diff with drum brakes.
Run what ever line we can work out fits?
I want to avoid a trip to ACT Brakes

From memory you leave the TX T piece, put it on the new diff and keep the fittings that come off it. Take the fittings from the slave cylinders on the new diff along with the ones from the TX T piece to a brake place and ask them to make new lines with those bits on ends at appropriate length.
Be careful when choosing your diff as the 78 TD had a "Salisbury" rear axle and early brakes.

Glad you liked the write-up! It's definitely quicker for me to link it to folks rather than explain which LSDs fit what all the bloody time haha.
Yeah honestly I can't remember what's what with the T piece, all I know is I didn't need anything made up or re-jiggered for the drift car. That was essentially the reverse of what you're doing though, and I know there are two commonly used brake threads which are REALLY similar (to the point that you can thread the smaller one into the larger one but not vice versa). All I can really suggest is that you give it a try, if one way doesn't want to go, don't force it and try the other way instead. If GMH used any logic, the car to flexi would be the same, but then again if they used logic they would have ensured the whole lot were the same...
If your existing drum brakes seize when reversing and the handbrake's too low for your liking, you should back off the adjusters by a few clicks inside the drums, and possibly back off the handbrake a little too.
