Just a question... If you are putting a mini spool in (locked diff), why would you want a LSD centre for??Pub-Jon wrote:i rang this guy today, and he said that he dosnt have any. he didnt even have one to suit reco as i want one to put a mini spool in!
Couldn't you just use an open centre and remove spider gears and insert mini spool?
Cheers,
Matt

Ive been looking around trying to find someone local in adelaide who can do this. Ive spoken to adelaide differential, and they said yeah it could be done, but the small sailsbury LSD is beyond very rare, and pretty much i have no chance in finding one at all. He said he hasnt seen one in over 15 years! He also said the small sailsbury / 8 bolt has 10 bolts on the back, but 8 bolts on the inside hence the name. So counting bolts on the outside isnt gonna help you, but rather look for the round shaped diff housing (small) versus the egg shaped (large). Also if anyone knows where one can get an LSD small sailsbury, please send me a PM. Correct me if Im wrong on any of this, ive only been researching diffs for about a week...
I just stole one out of an old commodore at the wreckers just because it was an lsd and when i got a Gemini we just swapped the 3.9 gears onto it and put it in, i did have to go have it shimmed up correctly as it was way out, but its okay, not the best when one wheel is fully off the ground, but fun in the wet and it drives fine in the dry.
I did have a burnout video on you tube after i had the lsd shimmed up but i had to take it off due to certain identification reasons! yep making another one.

this is an option i'm thinking of doing as long as i can find one. but i have heard its not a very strong option. i've heard i'm better off getting a locker.
i will be running a 2l turbo.
what are people running motor wise in there cars with this lsd option? how is it strenght wise? am i better off with a locker?
