here is something i knocked up
you can make it better by putting plastic on the ends that are connected to the flap to prevent metal on metal contact ( heat shrink???? ) and using some washers on the screws
all i used was a simple metal coat hanger , a pair of snub nose pliers and my thumb to bend to shape.
will make a wagon one soon

lol, mine fell off when I stopped at the first meet of a cruse. Was pretty damn funny, lucky as though.
You could continue the wire a bit further up so it protrudes from the end a tiny bit, maybe put a really small bend in just to keep it steady.
Also if you were keen you could put some really hard bog aroud where the screws are to give it some more rigidity and less flex.
