Cheers bud, I need cheering up lol..

Gotta get it tech'd so I can try for my goal of 9's with a manual in full street trim! I'm pretty sure I should be able to do it on 98 octane too :)

IF I ever fix this miss LOL

Is the CDI an MSD unit? They can be prone to going on the fritz randomly particularly driving multicoil. Also, try another CAS? Im guessing your using a Rodeo E1 optical, similar to the VL ones where they can randomly get s%*tty.

Running a haltech e8, m&w cdi, mercury outboard ferrite coils, just found out that m&w don't sell the ferrite coils so I have ordered the relevant bosch coils as recommended by m&w so i'll be fitting them tomorrow. Just begged my way onto the dyno tomorrow arvo after work so I can test a new map sensor, leads, coils, at least I will have a spare parts package after all this!

Welcome to my world Coxy....Owned my car for 10+ years and it has had a miss for 9 of them....Changed Wiring changed leads plugs coil even the dizzy,re earthed everything checked alternator, still missing...Piece of s*#t...

Try finding a miss at 8000 RPM and full load....Nightmare....

The only thing i have not changed is the MSD but it miss fired before i put that on....

Could be the microtech but its a 1500$ guess if im wrong!!!...

Might change the injectors fuel reg and pumps next just for fun...Ive tried everything else...

make sure your spark plug boots slide all the way down to the spark plug nut... EG. extra long boots... prevents the spark jumping and fitring on the head, seen this a lot over 20 psi on a lot of vehicles, also just standard no fancy V power or any of the like, (just a waste of money)

Im suprised you didnt get a set of leads from Queensland Ignition Leads...

(I personally think they are better then the MSD branded leads)

I know you guys have most likley done this anyway but do you have your crank triger wiring as far away from all other wiring as possible especially all your coil wiring and plug leads. also have your CDI box or coil drivers away from your ECU.

I chased a problem for some time ended up being the crank trigger wiring was to close to one of the injectors.

My old orange starion that my cousin now owns has an e8 also, might steal it off him to try aswell. Yes the cas wiring is shielded & away from injectors etc. It's going to be a frantic couple of days now checking all this s*#t, first thing I'm doing is the coil change though... My dyno guy had a 680rwhp supra with a miss, had the same coils as mine, changed to bosch coils, problem solved.. That and m&w don't sell the ferrite ones anymore tells me something!

Good luck over the weekend Dave. If you can - get a go pro on the dash gauges for a few runs :)

Coils/gunge on a terminal/changed type of spark plugs. Not sure which one but i'm guessing the gunge more than the others, the plugs have made it heaps more tuneable, it's running the best it's ever run :)

ahhhhhh.... to go back to thursday night thinking it was fixed...

Had a s*#t of a weekend at Jambo TBH, it was murphy's law to the extreme.

Got held up in scrutineering by stupid people and nearly missed my first qualifier, stuck behind someone towing at 10kph on the way to the staging lanes and it got really hot as the fan is too small, lined up at the back of the pack and it burped water out, lucky for me the guy in front oiled the track so i got to wait 25mins and let it cool down. Ran an 11.9 at only 113 mph as it was missing in 3rd and 4th again.

Second qualy i missed 3rd TWICE, hit 5th twice! time for a lockout plate on the shifter! ran a 13.0..

3rd qualy i got axle tramp coming out of the burnout box so put the clutch in, i bogged it on launch though and stabbed the clutch, which snapped the torque tube shaft behind where the centre bearing goes on! Kristian raced to Lee's & pulled one out of Nick's car at the shop to keep me going, BIG thanks to Kristian & Nick for that, to keep me in with a chance on sunday.. So yeah changed it on saturday night..

Sunday morning first race, meant to change plugs but forgot due to the stupid torque tube issue.. Misfired like a bitch, lost running a 12.4 on an 11.6 dial in..

So.. They called for grudge runs so i went back to the car & threw the new plugs in, wound the boost back up to kill mode and lined it up, on the way to the staging lanes it was running sweet as a nut, i could tell it was happier, so i'm pretty sure it must be a dud cdi causing the miss.. Did a big 3rd gear skid to see what it was like, revved cleanly & felt good.. Came up to the line, dialed up some revs and launched HARD, went into 2nd gear and the f*#cking throttle cable snapped off at the t/b end!

What a weekend....

yea i was thinking of gettin the cranes cams hi6dsr top spec one with dual stage rev limiter, easier than trying to plug in a stand alone stage limiter, which as got me thinkin i might need to upgrade the rotor's ignition as well, but the waste spark setup may not be compatable
