Re: Hello from California
So I went to a local shop last week and the guy wanted 3500 usd to build the lower end of my 4zd1. Do you guys think that’s reasonable? Everything inside of the block was going to be new. Depends on what is being done. For a stock or relatively stock rebuild that’s a hell of a lot of coin Actually ...

Re: Wrecker Part list for EFI
Yep, if you look in the right places there are bargains to be had - i picked up an EMS Stinger for $400 so there are decent ones out there. The only thing id avoid is a Microtech and thats mainly because you are stuck with whatever trigger/ignition setup is coded onto the ecu. Cant just select anot...

Re: Can this 4zd1 crank be repaired???
You need a few other things though to make it work
For my d1 with e1 head and e1 crank, I needed to use the timing gear from the e1 too

Re: Can this 4zd1 crank be repaired???
Cheers, Got a quote for repair... it's possible but much cheaper to look for another crank., its annoying because the block was in prefect condition. Looking to see if an E1 crank can be fitted to the D1 block, from my calculations the E1 will only bring up the capacity by 100cc to 2350cc. as the s...

Re: Hello from California
As nick pointed out, for that power level I would go with stock bottom end rebuild with resized crank Definitely 4zE1 head with a reground cam to suit- delta in the USA do cam regrinds to suit 4z series. Go with their mild option (230 degreee duration at 0.050"). You will want to use upgraded v...

Re: Race Car Update...
So yeah reversion / turbo sizing / cam timing / ignition timing. One thing that isnt generally discussed is the importance of intake : exhaust pressure ratio We must remember than an engine is essentially an atmospheric pump. The more atmospheric pressure you can ingest and expel, and the faster/ mo...

Re: Race Car Update...
I will respond properly tonight , but reversion is an absolutely huge consideration for turbo setup - much much more so than an n/a engine

Re: Race Car Update...
The question of whether the t28 will be "ok" on a 2.3 is dependent on a lot of things But assuming he is going to use it regardless, then the only thing I would ensure is the rear housing is not some tiny 0.48 a:r thing A turbo will "work" on any engine, but with a restrictive re...

Re: Race Car Update...
Ok that's good- do you know what type of t28 it is? Front wheel dimensions? Rear housing? Is it an ns111 turbine wheel or old school 28 t series turbine?
From there we can determine a few other things

Oh draw through - that changes things. I would stick to the t28 for now until you convert to injected.

Re: Race Car Update...
Fair enough
If it's a Garrett t28 ball bearing (so many variants of a t28 so would be good to know what specifically it is) then that's ok
I Have a spare set of 13b 550cc injectors you can have cheap if you like. They need new seals and pintles but they're pretty cheap to get
