If you draw a line from the centre of the cam sprocket to the outside and note where it cuts the tooth. It looks roughly like it advances or retard half a tooth.

Adjustable cam sprocket

Found this while stripping an engine today. Has 3 settings marked 0, A, R Guessing the A = Advanced, R = Retarded and 0 is neutral (standard) Anyone come across this before, not sure by how much it's advanced or retarded but going to have a play at some point. http://sphotos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-a...

How about a fked head gasket or worse, rings / pistons are gone? No xplosion, plenty of fuel, ... says to me do a compression test. Yer, I suspected maybe a break between 1 and 2. We did a bush mechanic compression test by cranking it and holding a finger over the spark plug hole, there was still c...

Im confident it's not a spark issue as we have switched the plugs from 1 and 2 into 3 and 4 with no change and when you take the leads off while the engine is running you can see plenty of spark leaping to the spark plug. I've tried turning the mixture screw on no 1 carbie from all the way from lean...

Twin carbie issues

So having a bit of a drama with a twin carby setup (su single throat carbies). First of all, it's not on a Gemini but on an old 4cyl MG A. Carbies have just been rebuilt by a shop. The MG motor has the inlet and exhaust all on one side, with 3 exhaust ports and 2 inlet ports. Cylinders 2 and 3 go in...

Wow, now that's not something you would expect haha.
Yer pretty much same boat here. runs fine, great power, just a little noisy. Im about to embark on a 8000km roadtrip to the other side of the country so I want to get my bases covered. Will probably just replace the chain.

So I was thinking, seen as it's a G200Z with a 1600 head. doesnt that make the total height of the engine smaller than a standard G200Z. So the length from top cog to bottom cog for the timing chain would be shorter yes? Would it be possible to fit a chain minus 1 link and would this fix it, i.e. ma...

Thank you very much toby, great help!
Do you think I would have to go to a 350 after putting a turbo after the carby to keep up with things or the 225 should suffice.

goldgem wrote:Gene have you tried baffles in your float bowls? I know a lot of speedway cars use those because of sideways surge on the speedway.
Baffles was something I considered with the nikki but fixed any issues by cutting the float allowing more fuel in the bowl.
