Re: Torque Tube Bolts - different length for a diesel?
So I'm a little confused, the diesel torque tube to diff bolt doesn't land anywhere? It just runs out the other side of the diff flange. Or are you talking about a different bolt? IMG_0796s.jpg Closer up: IMG_0796ss.jpg Can just see the back of the bolt coming through the diff in this shot: IMG_0794...

Re: Torque Tube Bolts - different length for a diesel?
I have a diesel diff, which bit did you want me to measure? Where the torque tube bolts to the diff, or the other end where the rubber is?

On one drive I thought my brakes had completely failed, but they worked right at the bottom of the pedal travel too. Mine was the master cylinder had failed.

Re: engine swap
Here are two things that are easy to forget when removing an engine:
Disconnect speedo cable
Remove gearstick
Tip: gearbox oil will leak out the back of the gearbox

Re: Most useful socket set
I love my deep sockets, they are so useful. Get a set that starts at 8mm, make sure it has 10, 12 and 13 too. I am a big fan of cheapo socket sets. Plain straight handled ratchet so you can easily put a jack handle over the end for extra leverage ;) Gotta have a few extension pieces. A universal joi...

Re: Thermo Fan Help
You shouldn't need to drill through it, there are special zip tie like mounting things specifically for this purpose. They should fit between the fins without drilling. This is the quickest and easiest way to mount a fan on a radiator. Quick ebay search (there are probably better/cheaper versions, t...

Is the car running and up to temperature when you are trying the heater? If it is then the heater core may be blocked.

There's a better way?! I feel like Homer juicing an orange... And I had trouble seating the rear of the gaskettobytj wrote:Danman sounds like you tried to pass the gasket inside the sump and around the oil pick up. Much simpler to go outside the sump and come up from underneath.

Re: Urgent Advice needed - sump gasket
I changed the sump gasket by undoing the engine mounts and jacking the motor up. This gets you about 5cm. It's damn hard! The oil pickup is tricky to get around. Then the rounded ends were tricky to get sitting right with the gasket. I got it done but i don't recommend it... i was so covered in oil ...

One more example, this thing came to the latest Reliant gathering. Re: TE diesel !!!!!! Want too turbocharge
Here are the pictures of our turbo diesel. It was a very simple setup, but in my opinion it only made the car go like a stock 1.6L non-turbo petrol gemini. Perhaps could have gone better with more boost, but this may have required more extensive mods. It is a tiny T2 turbo, which I don't think is a ...

Re: How much does EFI and turboing cost?
They might have similar rules but the police attitude is different. Having a chat to the car enthusiasts over here we have heard/seen that the cops don't bother them at all. Police are only after non-registered, not insured or no road tax. Or driving like a dickhead of course. One of them said that ...
