Re: Crow Cam Issues

Hey Javi, was that a regrind, welded regrind or billet?

Re: Crow Cam Issues

Apparently these wear issues have to do with the ZDDP content of oils, or lack of it in modern oils. Most synthetics dont have it unless specifically formulated to have it as an additive. Just stick with a pure mineral oil and you should be fine; HPR30 has it etc.

Re: lower balljoint taper

Havent put massive amounts of thought into it as Im not quite at that point just yet so bare with me, still finishing my brake conversion bits. Was something i was prepared to live with until I found a round about in my estate that exagerates the problem which is when i started digging around a bit....

Re: rockers and shafts

Guess it depends on how bad the ones you have are, and wether or not its worth getting new ones.

Toby, whats the go with ordering from rockauto? Got a few things i need to source from there....just have no idea how to go about it

Re: lower balljoint taper

No idea, but interested as well if you find out. Have been looking at getting bump steer correctors machined up.

Have you got one out you can measure?

Re: rockers and shafts

Mix and match really; new ones dont exist as far as im aware. You are basically looking for a set of shafts that arent too worn. Rockers you can clean up the pad where it contacts the cam but i suspect there shouldnt be too much wear in that area anyway. Any wear gets taken out by valve adjustment.

Re: Twin cam Question

0.13 on inlet, .23 on exhaust - this is according to both the factory 117 Isuzu Coupe engine manual AND the ZZ/R FIA Homologation documents. Shims heaps of places can make them up for you, apparently quite similar to the Ford Lotus DOHC. Given your up in QLD give Tighe Cams a call, he should be able...

Re: Race Car Update...

The question of whether the t28 will be "ok" on a 2.3 is dependent on a lot of things But assuming he is going to use it regardless, then the only thing I would ensure is the rear housing is not some tiny 0.48 a:r thing A turbo will "work" on any engine, but with a restrictive r...

Re: Race Car Update...

If you have it, you may as well use it. My feeling is it may be a touch small given the restrictor and that its on a 2.3L, but only one way to find out really. When i was looking at running a Piazza manifold on my mrs car, I got frustrated with the drift-tax T28s attract down here. Ended up modifyin...

Got your message yesterday while i was walking the dog, forgot to reply. When you say plunged the thread down all the way do you mean redrilled the mains threads in the block deeper?

Re: Wheel tubs

If you mean split them in half like they do on commodores, dont think so - pretty sure its one piece. Shock mount/housing is also attached to it to make it a bit trickier

Re: Race Car Update...

Personally i think the whole thing is a bit bulls*#t. Put your finger through the impeller at 18psi, will your finger slow the impeller down? Didnt think so. lol Most modern turbos, OEM or otherwise, of reputable manufacture, have enough R&D behind them that this sort of thing wont phase them in...
